January 24, 20233 yr Doesn’t his son play for Chelsea youth team now? I think he loves the club and is a very loyal person - hopefully he stays. It’s honestly a privilege to watch him in Chelsea blue.
January 24, 20233 yr https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/thiago-silva-chelsea-to-offer-contract-extension-to-evergreen-defender-zc90g72cc Great news. He also made some noises on social media recently about how happy he is at Chelsea and how the club feels like his family. He's been our best player by miles and we're not even close to ready to playing without him.

January 24, 20233 yr Resigning him for a further 12 months would probably be our most important signing of the window. I fully expect Badiashile and hopefully Colwell to learn from his positioning and as such integrate into the team quicker.

Has been stated before he wanted to continue I'm Europe until the world cup was done and the end his career in Brazil. Watching him play in the Premier League makes me think he can easily play in Brazil at 41 years of age I have a dream to see Silva play for us in defence as captain being 40 years old and still being our best player
January 24, 20233 yr I think that he has never in his whole career felt more appreciated I hope the banner makers will make a beautiful tribute to him soon
January 24, 20233 yr What's more impressive is most Brazilians seem to drop off early in their career too. Ronaldinho, R9, Adriano, Oscar, Ramires, Robinho, Pato. Silva's holding out longer than most elite European defenders.

I`m sure I read somewhere the longevity thing for him is down to him playing less games as a pro as he made it into the ranks at a later age or something. Either way its been bloody great for us.

Makes you think when players like Rooney burnt out later on in life from such a large amount of game time in their teens to seeing Silva still going strong at 38.

If I remember right more defensive Brazilian players have played on later than them. Cafu, Roberto Carlos and Dunga a few I think got to mid thirties.

Players like Mount and James will have this problem big time, Mount has basically played for 3 years non stop with barely any breaks due to international tournaments etc.

He's had a lot of his first couple of years as back up to Azpi/CHO so hopefully that and the injury lay offs will work to his advantage later on, not quite to 38 but still playing in his early-mid 30's to a similar level as to what Walker is doing. Mount however is in big trouble unfortunately and I have a fear/suspicion the burnout has already started (aka Oscar at a similar stage).

Like you say, Mount is pretty much f**ked though...

Not sure Rooney's decline can be attributed to too many games ... surely more a case of his poor lifestyle choices ? Too much booze, ciggies, bad diet, etc etc.

February 1, 20233 yr God, I feckin love this bloke. Just as much as the Kante triplets and the Drogs out. A colossal player and a bloody nice fella as well. He's almost too great to be true. We should just give him a job for life and be done with it. If I was having another daughter tomorrow I would call her Thiago N'golo Drogba.

February 10, 20233 yr Does this bloke ever have a bad game? Even at our worst you always expect him to be our best player because he always is. Imagine if we had lost him this season.
