May 14, 20233 yr He deserves so much better. At least our fans know how truly fortunate we are that he chose to bring his career here with us. What Todd, Eggman, the others owners, directors, managers, and our selfish players have put him through thus season is a disgrace.

Can't imagine Silva will be at all enthused at winning an award where the club has finished at an all time low and not one player can come out this season saying they performed well. They should all be embarrassed. I'd void the men's first team awards and make the ceremony all about the women's team. Men can watch and support.

In a season where the vast majority of players have under-performed against expectations, the player who mostly maintained consistently high standards whilst those around them were generally sh*te speaks volumes for that player's attitude, dedication and pride in their own performance and deserves recognition IMO.

Disagree. Love the bloke but Silva has been poor as well.
May 19, 20233 yr Think it is more than harsh to say Silva has been poor. At 38 he can be excused for his standards slipping somewhat, but for the majority of the season, he has still been far and away our best player. Still reading the game like no other, anticipating challenges - goal line clearances. And he has had to play alongside some dross this season which at 38, can't be easy! Player of the season has never been an easier choice (perhaps with the exception of Hazard at his peak).

Felt Silva was poor this 2nd half of the season but I will add that players will progressively get worse the more they are managed by Lampard. We've seen this before.
May 28, 20233 yr No surprise here https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/thiago-silva-is-your-chelsea-player-of-the-season 61% of the vote. Enzo finished 2nd and Kepa 3rd.

May 28, 20233 yr I didn't want to say anything but I'm fairly sure Silva secured the Shed End MOTM Player of the Season months ago... How could it be anybody else? Anyone who has performed equivalently well has been injured for large chunks of the season, and everybody else has been f**king sh*te. And don't talk to me about Kepa 'beating expectations'. His expectations statistically could not be any lower.

May 29, 20233 yr 🤣🤣🤣 People think I have agenda against silva. Silva is my pick POTY, I think it is a slam dunk. Silva can't play in back 4 is also a slam dunk. If you like silva and want him to be important part of our team, then back 5 has to be our default formation for next year and we need to start thinking about selling Madueke n Murdyk. Maybe arse still want murdyk. Edited May 29, 20233 yr by Bob stark
May 29, 20233 yr What a player, leader and overall person. Thrilled he will be here next season - things will improve and I have every confidence he'll be at the heart of it on and off the pitch.
May 29, 20233 yr He was great when he first came but like Dave his legs have gone so time to move him on - it's not the time to be nostalgic. Also seems to like talking off the pitch, it's what happens on it that matters. Given his failure to get our back players working together as a cohesive unit defending the goal with their lives all he'll be doing is occupying a space we should have someone better filling - Dare I say it, again, after 6 years a proper leader someone like JT. How many goals we have given away this year because of defensive mistakes - POTY my arse - If anyone deserves it probably Kepa!

Before his injury and before Lampard came in, our defensive record was the only good thing we had going for us, and that was almost all because of Silva. Kepa had some good moments, but he hasn't been anywhere near Silva's level. He made some good saves, but that is what every single keeper in the world should be doing. He's still very poor from set pieces and still struggles with long range shots. If he was so good this season, then nobody would be asking us to go sign a new goalkeeper. Silva on the other hand was faultless up until he picked up an injury, so good that if he was in any team that finished in the top 6, they would be walking away from this season with the least goals scored and most clean sheets.

He was in the top three keepers in the whole PL for last season (conceding 5 fewer goals than he statistically should have done), which I highly doubt any other player in our squad could say for their position !
