I can’t believe I’m seeing some criticism on Silva previous page on this thread… Are you bloody mad. He’s one of the greatest centre backs ever and still is our best defender.

I don’t care if he slows down the play, I completely trust him due to his class and experience. Without him we’ll literally fall apart, I honestly believe that. Remember how terrible our defence were before Silva arrived?

Beautiful goal, really a dream for so many to score exactly that type of a header.

Class act and still no signs of slowing down.

While I very much don't subscribe to the notion we're better without him playing I don't think we will totally fall apart either.

We have a very good set of defenders at the club and that shone through even last season, he had that mini spell out after his injury at Spurs and we didn't suffer too hard at the back.

At least one of them seems to give a sh*t…

Good thing he didn't feature against Everton. This thread would've been insufferable otherwise.

Yep, tired of all of the apologies and then not backing it up with performances. The lack of effort at times is inexcusable.

Sometimes you wish you had 11 Silvia’s on the pitch. What a professional he is. Would have loved to see him at Chelsea in his 20s, and is still a pleasure to see his leadership today. I hope he can raise our standards with the time he has with us

I can, he's a pain in the butt, on and off the pitch... he needs to move on and so do we... we don't need two managers or him upsetting the dressing room, which reading between the lines here, is what seems to be happening.

If Silva is a pain on and off the pitch, then what does that say about the rest of them? He is by far the most professional player we have. To be playing at this level at his age is remarkable.

I think our defenders are painfully average in all honesty. They all have glaring weaknesses. Disasi is a mid table defender at best, I don't see him actually win much and he often gets in the way of his cb partner. Chalobah is a disaster in 1v1 defending. Fofana can't even stay fit, and when he does play he always looks like he is overextending his legs in a tackle (probably the reason why he gets injured so much) Colwill doesn't stay concentrated and looks very lazy with his defending at times. Gusto looks average at just about everything, a backup RB if ever I saw one. Cucurella is a complete disaster of a defender that will cost us goals for an myriad of reasons. The best two outside of Silva are always injured, Chilwell and James.

The only one that has looked steady is Badiashile.

Have a look at the Everton's goals, he was pretty much lost.

Under Lampard it looked like nobody could defend, then came Tuchel and showed that actually a team can defend if coached properly.

Thank goodness for Thiago Silva. Without him today I have no doubt we would have thrown the 3 points away!

Who ever we replace him with has to be just as or almost as intelligent. Positioned himself very well when the first man couldn’t block the cross.

Call me mad, but I'd keep him for another season! To do what he does at 39, what's another year!

The experience and passion for the club he brings are too much to let go in the position we are in these days!

If it was up to me I’d give him a 3 year contract!

Outstanding today, easily our best defender still, no way we can afford to drop him at the moment. 

I think the younger fans probably don’t realise just how lucky we are to have him. One of the greatest centre backs ever.

Don't think I've ever liked a player for us so much in such a short amount of time. Criminal we didn't do everything possible to sign him sooner. 

Without him and Petrovic, Luton could easily have scored 6.
