Easily one of our best ever signings in the modern era, and just makes everyone else around him better. Biggest reason I am disappointed colwill left on loan. Missed opportunity to sit under the Silva learning tree rather than the Brighton bench.

August 28, 20223 yr If his wife’s comment about no poster is correct, then he should have one immediately.

Have said before, I have never seen a defender be a step ahead and read the game as well as Silva. Our other defenders can learn from him but trouble is, that kind of thing is inbuilt and can't really be taught. Guy is just in a class of his own.
August 28, 20223 yr Would love it if he was given a position at chelsea once he hangs his boots. His leadership and experience is at a different level, similar to Maldini I would say.

October 5, 20223 yr Runours about the club have offered him a 2 year extension to his current deal, with a view to him taking on a staff role once he retires. Whether that is as a coach, scout, sport director role etc is not stated.
October 5, 20223 yr He needs to up his game a little. 2 games and 2 errors - one which cost a goal and other, he was very lucky to stay in the pitch. Still a great player and incredible- but these drops in concentration are costing us. Any other player would be getting slaughtered.

Like JM7 has pointed out there are flaws in his game that are getting ignored because of his leadership qualities, any other player would have been absolutely slaughtered for them. Not a starter for me next season. Fingers crossed we get Gvardiol in the summer to pair with Fofana, sure Thiago can compete for 3rd choice with Koulibaly if he decides to stay. Question then is do you now get rid of Chalobah (who apparently wants out for lack of game time), Colwill, and Ampadu just to extend his contract?
October 5, 20223 yr Not sure fellas, story is he has impressed the new owners and they want to keep him around. Whether he wants that is not said.

October 5, 20223 yr Even a diminished version would be worth keeping around to fill in occasionally and for the positive influence in the dressing room. Like Terry in the 2016/17 season or Drogba in th 2014/15 season. He's not close to that yet though. He's made two mistakes lately, but don't forget the stellar displays he's already had this season. I think he's far from done, though he might just start slowing down.

The reason why he isn't getting slaughtered is because it's so rare. That tends to happen when players go so long playing well without making mistakes.

October 7, 20223 yr I know it has been said over & over and by many but I am honestly struggling to think of a classier footballer. He's 38 FFS and he' splaying some of the best football I have witnessed. I don't think I have ever seen a defender with a better footballing brain and ability to read the game and be one step ahead. He is unbelievable. Just imagine if we had him with JT - WHAT a CB pairing that would have been. Absolutely love the guy and I'm dreading the day he has to hang up his boots and stop playing for CFC, when I imagine I will well up big time!
October 18, 20223 yr Ballon d'or is a joke where is Silva? he should be in the top 25 for sure Thiago Silva is a better defender than Van Dijk Edited October 18, 20223 yr by azpi28

Ronaldo was number 20 on the list and Gavi was voted the best under 21 player in the world. In a year where Ronaldo has been dropped to third choice striker at United and Gavi is playing for a Barcelona side that could be heading for the Europa League. I can probably easily name more than 100 players that have been better than Ronaldo in the past year and I can name a fair amount of under 21's that have been better than Gavi.
