Form the sounds of it a new deal for him is well on the way. He and his family are happy in London and the club are, understandably, very happy with him.

That save tho. Guy puts everything on the line just to keep a clean sheet. 

A proper old school defender

Much like when David Luiz was playing in a back 3 for us, by playing in the middle of the 3 you help compensate for any weakness in Silva's game. 

He doesn't have to get into too many foot races with forwards, he can concentrate on taking up the right positions and he's generally the spare man at the back so gets lots of opportunities to get on the ball and pick out forward passes. 

He's still capable of playing 3 times a week. He looks fit and strong and so I don't see any reason why he couldn't stick around for another another season beyond this one. The other players at the club are clearly benefiting from having him around.

Tbf he played in the back 4 in Lampard's system and was still largely flawless.

I've said this recently possibly to you but my theory is his stop start career in his early 20's is really benefiting him now, like a reverse Rooney/Torres situation.

Fantastic news if true. What a player. I knew he was top class at PSG but he's exceeded my expectations.

I am more confident it is than I was we would thrash Norwich. Has been said since he joined he wanted to stay at the top in Europe until at least the world cup. He clearly loves it here and so does his family.

I am sure he will be here next season minimum.

All of that money spent in summer 2020 and it looks like a free transfer of a 35 year old was the best bit of business we did, still a rolls Royce of a player I’d be delighted if he stayed another season.

I would have loved to have seen him and JT partner up as our two central defenders.

Yes. He had interest from us, City and Barcelona at the time.

A shoe in for Chelsea player of the season at this rate. Arguably should have won it last year as well. Incredible player

Deserved better today. Rudiger was good going forward but poor defensively. AC was poor at both both Mandy was useless. He cannot do it all on his own!

Just a class act.  Can't be happy with the outcome at all.  His influence on and off the field is more important than ever right now, and I'm sure he'll be acting like a captain in every sense of the world to pull this group back together.

Is said to have decided to wait till the end of the season to decide whether to stay or not. He wants to see,

 

1. If his family remain happy to stay in London.

2. If he feels ready for another season in the PL physically.

3. Who our manager will be and where he fits in to their plans.
