If another Silva exists out there, we must find him and sign him ahead of anybody else. He is the perfect example of what top teams are looking for in a modern day cb.

Completely agree - need to get these guys early.  Ruben Dias would of been one hell of a signing for Chelsea - not sure how many other CBs are out there at or near this level that are available.

What I really like about this picture is that it's every player's first CL final except Thiago's (and kova's). Having lost in his previous you can tell that he's happy to have made it again but he's not celebrating too much just yet as it's not done.

I thought the same. I asked my Dad to take a guess at his age and he said 17 😆

I'm lucky enough to look mid 20s in my early 30's but he takes it to another level.

He genuinely wouldn't look the slightest bit out of place in an out side of football social group with Mason, Reece etc 🤣

He always looks so normal outside of football that you'd think he's the colossus that he is.

Our previous CBs bar maybe Carvalho all had the aura of top athlete around them

Wow he looks so young from that angle, could genuinely pass off for early 20s!

IF ONLY!!

Great result today without him but the defence doesn't look anywhere near as secure without him there and we 100% need him in both of the two finals.

It's crucial to find another world class CB in the summer as well. T.Silva is pure class so at this point I have no idea who would be his ideal replacement.

Ben Chilwell on Thiago Silva:

"I was actually at Leicester when all the speculation around Thiago started floating about. I remember chatting to a few of the boys saying, 'imagine if I go there and play with Thiago Silva, that would be a dream.'"

"He’s been one of the best centre-backs in world football for so many years now. So to then come here, meet him, train with him, learn from him, talk to him around the building..."

"Hear how he thinks I can improve my game, here how he talks to me and the other boys during matches, it’s just amazing."

"It’s just amazing to see the way he is with everyone. He’s such a leader, the way he looks after himself away from football, the way he looks after his diet and body, he’s literally just the perfect footballer."

High praise from Chilly.

This man is an amazing professional and plays the game with the enthusiasm of a teenager but the clarity of a wise old hand.

This is likely his last chance ever to win the CL. Despite a career of mostly playing for Milan and PSG they could not deliver the big one during his time there.

Given he was so close yet so far away last year I am hoping from a special display both as a defender and especially as a leader tonight. Really hope we can help him finally win this trophy.

Dunno if it's been translated already, but I think one of my biggest concerns has been eased during a interview in Portuguese.

Asked about his future, he said he's always been a big dreamer, aiming for the absolute highest he can. That means he wants another shot at the WC in 2024.

It's a tough one to reach, but I was worried that after we had won the CL, he'd think it's job done and come back to Brazil. However I now believe he'll stay for at least another year, because that gives him the biggest visibility against top opposition and increases his chance of being selected for international competitions.

Finally, when the journalist asked if he wanted another shot at the Libertadores with a brazilian club, he was kinda unfazed by it, so it doesn't seem like a major ambition for him, even though he acknowledged it would be nice after all.

TLDR: I now have firm belief that Thiago will stay for another year, based on something that he half-said. I'm ready to be a journo!

Was gutted for him when he had to go off injured.

That's a few times this season he's picked up muscle injuries during a game which I guess is to be expected from a player getting on for 37.

His presence at the club has been massive this season though and has fully vindicated his signing.
