The most impressive thing is that error at West Brom hasn't effected him, you'd be surprised just how many players go into their shell after an error like that but he still takes gambles that offer a relietevely high percentage possiblity of something like that happening again, like for example when he dribbled out of the area while surrounded late on yesterday.

And as I said before, he actually had a good game in that West Brom match. He made one mistake and that was it, people got carried away.

Just give him 10-years contract and the problem is solved. 😄

Seriously, the guy's vertical is higher than Ronaldo's.  If I didn't know I would have never said he is 35.

I think his slow career start is aiding him massively now. He's the opposite of an early bloomer who burns our equally early.

Oh I don't disagree with that but still too many players revert to a shell after something Iike that even if it's just a one off.

I have actually read some ridiculous conspiracy's that Thiago was actually mentally weak in the past, apparently he deliberately got himself booked against Columbia (in the 2014 WC) because he was scared of facing Germany........

Probably the best fit CB in the league right now. Very happy we managed to bring him in and he's key to our fortunes this season.

It’s been such a long time since we had a top class CB. Last one being David Luiz under Conte... If not then John Terry. Yikes.

Please don't use David Luiz and top class CB in the same post!

Silva was imperious today. He complements Zouma so well. Hard to believe that of all the investment we made this summer a 36 year old CB and a 20m goalkeeper may be the most important of the lot.

The spring he has on him is very impressive. Physically he doesnt look 36. He is in better condition than players 10 year younger.

I dont usually watch games, and find myself almost excited to watch a centre back play, but he is majestic, and i havent seen this quality at chelsea since JT away at Arsenal in 2015.

Hopefully the years he spent in france playing at 75%, will see him have a couple of seasons here playing at a high level, because the thought of having to find a centre back to replace him is very daunting.

Such a shame he may go his whole time here without playing Infront of the fans.

Yeah never thought of that to be honest. Must a strange feeling for him as it’s normally the fans that bring bond between a player and club.

The guy oozes class and his great to watch, reminds me of when Desailly joined or further back with Gullit and you can still see how good they are even with them being older.

Towards the end of the first half, Burnly had a few long balls at us and we looked a little rattled. Silva deliberately hold on the ball and took the pace out of the game for about 1 minute, and saw the game out until half time. It's very small details but showed his experience and skills

Usually but in these times that bond is also felt through the wider audience on social media.

Our new defensive wall right there!

What were seeing with Silva is an actual defender that wants to defend and not be a midfielder, or attacker. He does the basics incredibly well, positioning is outstanding and knows how to control a game. Watching this kind of defender is why I have never...ever thought David Luiz is a defender....ever.

Besides his obvious class, ability, reading of the game etc, he absolutely diffuses the game. Sure some might say Burnley weren’t at their best, but they always look for a scrap. He simply didn’t ever get involved - made any attempt look unimportant as he maintained focus on the result. Other defenders get sucked into that and it changes the game. What a player.

Proper looking defence.

James- Chilwell take that grin off your face.

Chilwell- ok boss

This is great are you some kind of a western movie director or something like that by any chance? Cheers :drinks:

People have often said that Thiago Silva is the most underrated CB for years. By the looks of it, it's true. It looks to me as if he has wasted his career at Milan and PSG and he could've easily been playing for the very top European sides, Barca, Madrid, Bayern.
