Thats a really good point but I'm not sure if its the case. I think maybe Silva went back to Brazil whereas I don't know about Mendy. They both played in the same country and as far as I'm aware you don't have to self isolate when travelling from France. It would be a serious blow if Mendy had to self isolate for two weeks.
September 24, 20205 yr “Yes, it is exciting for us because he has had just over a week training with us. It was a perfect 60 minutes for him tonight. He will show the qualities he has. Of course, he will get fitter and better. He also gave us something for me on the night in the dressing room and on the pitch of a leader with authority in terms of his demands on others.” “He can’t speak the language but at the minute that’s not even a problem because his presence and the way he commands people around him is already showing that to me in training and in our game tonight. Yes, I am very very pleased with Thiago. It is what I expected of a player of his level but it is very refreshing to have him here at the club.” -Frank Lampard
September 24, 20205 yr I think Tomori and Zouma would be perfect parteners offering some pace next to him. I wouldn't like to see a Silva/Christensen partnership though. I think Andreas could struggle for game time this season if Silva stays healthy.

Just hope Christensen doesn't drop a bomb again.
September 26, 20205 yr If this is what he has to offer us, then we should cancel the contract. He did the same mistake against Barnsley.
September 26, 20205 yr Not even going to comment on his performance, too early for that but giving him the captain armsband was a bizarre decision. I can only assume it was to boost his confidence but even still I don't like it one bit.

Maybe James or Mount in the future, but I can totally understand the call. Having said that, he had a horrible PL debut and as somebody above pointed out, it's pretty worrying that this is the second time he's made this mistake in 2 games.

September 26, 20205 yr Joins our defence and immediately looks awful. It’s what we do to defenders. Sure he’ll get better.

September 26, 20205 yr Clearly not up to the speed and intensity of the English game, didn't expect attacker would close him down with such speed. At least he showed he care with that miserable facial expression. It's a good wake up call, if he thought this is just another French league, he'd clearly got a different opinion after the game.
September 26, 20205 yr Other than the mistake, what else did he do wrong? I thought he looked composed and added an air of calm. Additionally Christensen looked great, again. Another player who makes one mistake and is labelled a donkey.

He bosses games against Europe's top sides but can't handle a West Brom attacker, due to the intensity of the English league? Come on now, he just made a mistake. That's all.
September 27, 20205 yr Hard to fathom deciding he’s too old for the league based upon an unfortunate error, I’d say he was pretty tidy other than that. Hard to get him marshaling the defense when he can’t speak English. He’s going to need a permanent keeper to front, a center back partner not partners , Ben at LB and I’d put Dave in as RB for a bit of experience, if he chokes then bring James back.

Adds a lot more to the defense than the others. I'd like to see him paired with Zouma in the coming weeks. His passing is good and he was also very good in the air - not only winning headers but do it with direction also (either a pass or remove from danger). Reads the game well. No concerns about the mistake - I'm sure it won't happen again.
September 27, 20205 yr T. Silva Silva He slipped on his f**king arse He gave it to some West Brom player T. Silva Silva

It's probably more of a pet peeve than a legitimate critique but it just feels wrong to me and small club-ish. Nothing to do with Silva personally, just the action of giving a new signing the armband in general. If the captain or vice captain are not available, you should give the armband based on seniority.
