It looks to me as if he has wasted his career at Milan and PSG and he could've easily been playing for the very top European sides, Barca, Madrid, Bayern. He came from a poor background. He probably had money as his first priority. It just so happened that he blossomed into a world class CB and was still able to play well into his thirties. Tbf, he did win the Serie A back then and AC Milan used to be a powerhouse too. The PSG move was when he was 28 and seemed to me like a last hurrah. Who knew he lasted until 36! November 5, 20205 yr Quote Silva was linked with many clubs in 2008, including the likes of Inter Milan, Chelsea and Villarreal, though ultimately he opted to join the Brazilian contingent already at Milan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiago_Silva Imagine if he had joined Chelsea back then.
November 5, 20205 yr I have to say I'm starting to fall in love with Thiago Silva, who said he was too old!?
November 7, 20205 yr Roman needs to invest on a de-ageing technology. Prime Silva and prime Kante working together would stop goals coming in altogether.
November 7, 20205 yr It's a wishful thinking at this present time but I do hope fans are allowed sooner rather than later. Of all the new guys, Silva is a short-term and has a big chance of playing for Chelsea in front of no fans for his whole tenure..

He can stay for another year, if he can play at this level at 36, I’m sure he can at 37.
November 7, 20205 yr He didn't look 36 when he was chasing down the ball against Brewster, very impressive.
November 7, 20205 yr Just oozes class. Best defender in the league. Will be interesting how he fares when we play stronger teams (Spurs soon).
November 8, 20205 yr Give him that one year extension, just having him as an option next season is a huge bonus, no brainier.

November 8, 20205 yr It’s not coincidence that Reece James is miles better defensively than he was last season. The guidance and instruction from Thiago who is very vocal is having a significant impact on the entire back 4. I wish we could start him every game. If we are winning by 3 goals in games, I’d be subbing him off instantly and bringing on Tomori. Resting our best defender and developing our younger prospect.
November 8, 20205 yr He was a bit casual with his passing at times yesterday, but luckily we cleaned up these situations very well. Generally he has been a revelation. His positional play and ability to anticipate danger and snuff out potentially dangerous situations are second to none. He is also very comfortable with the ball at his feet and is a threat in the Opposition box when attacking set pieces. Very happy to have him here and maybe we can get more than just the one season out of him.
November 10, 20205 yr He's been complaining of having headaches from having to head the ball so frequently at a higher rate, wonder if he needs to get used to it or if it is a problem. Makes you wonder about the health and safety side of things, in the future we could be having all players looking like Cech on the field.
November 10, 20205 yr I know one thing if silva gets injured and has to miss a few games we are f**ked.
November 10, 20205 yr Ohhhh Thiago Silvaaaaa. Pretty fitting that arguably the two best defenders in the world in the last 15 years both played for Chelsea. Too bad we didn't get that partnership tho
