Right but it was evident this season both Chilwell and James were operating as additional CAMs in Tuchel's system. This genuinely had us play our best football. James found himself in positions he wouldn't ever find as a RCB.

The new owner may be more forgiving or less so, we shall see. Without the FA Cup this season is a few steps back and a failure. We will never know, Axman, but for argument’s sake, guess what - I still don’t agree :). Note that there’s an element of circularity here too as Roman’s departure itself is quite disruptive so how do we know this didn’t impact on our results? As for the season being a failure, I think this is true vs last season, though I would argue it’s more that last season was an unexpected roaring success than this one a failure. We may have won the CL but we weren’t the best team in Europe. If we are to finish third in the league having reached the FA cup final, I don’t think Roman would sack Tuchel for that.

We will never know 😉 Although here is one I have not considered till now. TT has more recently only said he will be here till the end of the season for sure. With his divorce, the stress of the season, the players letting him down of late, Toni and AC leaving and perhaps Dave to follow and the uncertainty at the top of the club, could TT decide enough if enough and walk away?

That’s entirely possible, even probable?. Divorce by itself is a stressful ordeal and a big red flag in some industries when it comes to selecting people for important jobs/tasks. So there is definitely that and I’d temporarily forgotten about it amid all the madness going on everywhere. My “base case” for us now is a lot of disruption, so if TT is gone amid that I can’t say it will surprise me. a great shame but what can one do?
April 24, 20224 yr Tuchel's attacking subs changed the game today when the starters were putting in a rather stodgy performance. Good stuff.

Tuchel could walk away. It would be a tragedy and set us back significantly. I pray that doesn't happen. It would be the biggest loss to the club since Roman took over.
April 24, 20224 yr His wife is German and he has daughters, highly likely she will return to Germany. So assuming he is close to the kids he will want to visit, depends how he sees this. Would he want to see them every week, every fortnight etc. I recall Mourinho living out of a hotel as his wife did not want to go to Manchester.

TT could walk in to any job in Germany, though may not want Dortmund again. Remember Tibo wanting to be by his kids as part of his move to Real. More I think about it and the more TT words and body language tells me he will quit at the end of the season.

Yep he’s going to quit, if he doesn’t, he’ll get sacked by Roman / new owners, we’ll drop out of top 4, we’re going to slump into mediocrity, we’re all going to die. Plus it’s Monday tomorrow.

April 26, 20224 yr I'm afraid that Tuchel won't have the money in order to buy a new full-back. Too many players leaving for him to have that option.

Depending on whom we get as owners, they might want to make a statement by providing the budget to sign a handful of quality players similar to what Roman did when he took over. After all you dont spend 3 billion and not improve the squad significantly. Maybe thats just wishful thinking.

Let's be honest it would take an insane level of investment in the first team to have us improve both our quality and depth to be able to compete with City and Pool. It would be better if we invested wisely and look for gems like Diaz and spend 30-50mill a player and not go for the 100plus mill players. A slow build, is what Klopp has done to make his side. We also need an honest look at what we already have. Take Mendy for example. We came in to the season many of us believing he is one of the best, but while his kicking remains as terrible as it is it becomes a compete liability too us. If he does not improve in that aspect then we need a new number 1 as good as Allison if we are to compete at the top.

Not sure I would describe Diaz as a gem just yet applicable for me would be energetic though he does have time on his side. Very difficult to know how much money we will have to spend under new owners and who will go for money. It is looking like replacing our defenders will be the key area where money gets spent. Would really like to see Kepa get a run out against sides not using the set pieces too much.

Well at some point Pep was just buying full-backs and if Tuchel wishes to continue with this back 3 where our wing-backs have been instrumental, he can't possibly think that it's fine to have Dave and RLC as backups or even Alonso that will be 1 year older. Real Madrid used Marcelo a bit but it's clear that Chilwell and James can't play a full season without some breaks.

However with new owners and it well published in the media about 1bill of liquid cash to invest clubs will be looking to hold us to randsome. We have to be smart and find a Robertson deal not spend 120mill on a Theo Hernadez, good as he may be.
April 26, 20224 yr I just wish the club kept the billion in liquid cash a secret. Everyone and their mothers would be worth a 100M now.

Our problem is we buy players who don't fit the system... Lukaku case in point....
