Looking at the table even 2nd is attainable with Liverpool's injury list. Thursday however is absolutely crucial to the season, despite Spurs looking hilariously bad of late they are still above us on GD with a game in hand. Win this one and I think we can really kick on, all of a sudden we'll be above Spurs and have a Vardyless Leicester in 4th as our only serious obstacle in terms of top four above us (no disrespect to West Ham), lose and we have it all to do again, Spurs will be 3 points ahead with a game in hand and even Arsenal may be above us.

It's a shame City have re activated beast mode else they'd still be a small chance of sneaking into the title race!

Knowing us from the last few seasons we'll just bend over and lose to this out of form Spurs team.

If we lose to Spurs Top 4 dream is over. On the contrary, a win will boost our confidence and should make it easy to win the next three games before we play United.

If we win tomorrow , we'll go 4th -- 4 points off of second. If this happens (which I think it will), 2nd surely has to become our target for the season? A Newcastle drubbing tomorrow would be lovely!

EDIT: agree with you chaps above!

Brave to predict that Sheffield United will only get two fewer points than Manchester City over their last 15 games (amongst other brave predictions 🙂 )

You've also got Burnley (currently won 7 drawn 5 lost 11) going 1-2-12 for their last 15 ... and you have Spurs unbeaten for the rest of the season ?? LOL

I'd have another go if I were you 🙂

Well may I say I feel flattered by that in-depth analysis.

I know I've got some bold trends predicted in there but wouldn't it be boring to simply extrapolate the current standings to matchday 38? Ultimately my personal table looks like this (tricky because some teams have more games in hand than others):

1 L'Pool 34

2 Chelsea 33

2 Spurs 33

4 Leicester 28

5 Everton 27

6 M'City 26

7 M'Utd 25

7 West Ham 25

9 Sheffield 24

10 Arsenal 18

10 So'ton 18

12 Villa 17

13 Leeds 16

14 Brighton 14

15 Wolves 11

15 Fulham 11

17 Palace 9

17 West Brom 9

19 Newcastle 8

20 Burnley 5

My main complaint about it is that it doesn't put us in 2nd place, which I'd obviously much prefer. But rather than redoing my own I'd suggest you make your own suggestion that we can analyse together 🙂

Perfect timing for that poll/table.  In a couple hours we'll have leapfrogged from 10th to 4th in less than 3 weeks.  Even if the dippers best us over the last 14 matches, no reason to think we won't pick up 5 points on either ManU or Foxes over the next 3 months.  I think we're a good bet for 4th.

Bet you would not wrote this if you saw the side TT picked to play Newcastle

Thought 4th was out of reach, but with Liverpool capitulating we're a great chance now.

Have to keep this momentum going as one slip up could be very costly.

It's not going to be easy to keep it but hopefully even if Liverpool comes back winning we see Leicester dropping points then instead. Our last 3 games against Arsenal, Leicester and Villa are the going to be the culmination of the season!

Our next 3 league games

Utd home

Liverpool away

Everton at home

Oooooof!!!!! Considering two are home games, 4 points should be the absolute minimum if we want to stay in top 4 contention.

We’ll finish 6th, we’ve had the easier games.

I agree. That sounds realistic based on our remaining fixtures. Europa looks most likely next season, if anything.

We need to aim for 70 points to make top 4. Even that may not be enough depending on how other times finish but is usually about the amount of points that 4th gets. Right now we have 44 points with 12 to play. That means 26 points from 12 games which is more than 2 points per game. We have little room for error and at the moment I reckon we will fall short.
