Did we not give players some time off after Leicester mark 2 this past week?

Seems a big gamble losing 2 days prep time ahead of many of these players biggest game for the club. Hopefully it works and does not backfire.

Technically it is one day off. The players came in today for a recovery session . So tomorrow is their rest day. Tuchel and Kovacic also spoke to the UEFA press today . Tuchel will be using today and tomorrow to set up the game plan for the Final since we haven't had time due to our never ending Finals

He is going to need one heck of plan. He has already ruled out Giroud, Abraham and CHO as attacking options so how does he get Werner, Havertz, Mount, Pulisic and Ziyech to be clinical when they have been anything but for months?

Hey @Zeta how about a bonus round for absolutley nothing but a one off table?

Man city 4 - 1 Chelsea, KDB, 22

Incidentally in Peps press conference he said he does not care about the ref for the game. Same ref who wrongly ruled out a goal for Sane in their 5-1 agg loss to Liverpool 3 years back.

He also confirmed his confidence in his team, so so confident he said, and that his starting 11 is not yet decided. He also intimated we have no chance and we are only good at playing in pockets, without using those exact words.

He also said our two recent wins over them counts for nothing and offered sarcastic congratulations for them.

I don’t want james as a RCB, as we lose something going forward. And I think we will need quick transitions and look for the counter attack a lot. The team I would go with is

mendy

azbi silva rudiger

james kante jorginho chillwell

mount havertz werner

The narrative going into this game for City will be:

Aguero and speaking about wanting to leave City after winning the CL, which he mentioned a few years back.

Pep Guardiola wanting to win the CL with City after missing out in previous seasons.

The good football City play and how they 'deserve' to win it after all this time trying.

The media will certainly be supporting City in this final, I'm pretty sure about that. You'll notice a lot of the focus pre-final will be about those narratives by the media one way or another.

I think the plan should be to tighten our defence . We haven't kept a clean sheet in our last 5 games. I never thought i would be saying this but we have missed Christensen in our last 5 games. Our record with him has been phenomenal . All we need to do is keep a cleansheet agaisnt City and we can sh*thouse our way to a goal. I just pray we doth play James in the back 3

Is our only chance. We wont beat them in game of who can score most.

To be honest before they played Paris I thought they would win it to give Aguero the send off we gave to Drogba.

Them playing us makes no difference to my mindset on it. Football has a way of making such stories.

Unless all of Werners offside goals and tap-in misses get avenged this game and we win 3-152

Lol never know a player so proficient at scoring offside goals. Even in the last game he stays onside and it is dave that costs him the goal lol.

Not to sound judgmental, but it’s a little disappointing that a lot of the fanbase have zero confidence in this game and assume we will get thrashed against city, because of bad run of form. Compare that to 2012 where we won against arguably the greatest team in history in there backyard with 10 men and 2-0 down and against a Bayern side that won the treble a year later with the likes and Robben, Ribery, schweinsteiger, Kroos, neur, Lahmm. I bet a a lot back then thought we couldn’t win against Bayern at the Allianz, without two key players (terry, Ivanonic). Trust the team and the manager, yeah we were atrocious in the last couple of games but on our day we can beat anyone. City are beatable, whatever happens I’m looking forward to this games.

I saw this and its slightly worrying lol. Hopefully we give him a shock.

He has to ooze that confidence though. It needs to come out of his every fiber.

As we have covered already, City fans, all neutrals and several Chelsea fans believe it is destiny that they win this game.

While that can knock our teams confidence if they let it at the same time it heaps unbelievable amounts of pressure on City and Pep is the only one there who has felt that weight of expectation. He had it at Barca and at Bayern, to different levels of success.

Sure City are used to it in the league but in Europe it has shredded them every time. This is their first final. They have to believe, every one of them, that they are superior than us, that it is their destiny and they are going to stroll past us. They cannot afford any doubts.

Pep is a smart guy, he knows that. Regardless of any "nice" things he says about us they will be veiled with sarcasm and behind close doors he will be pointing out to his players how every single one of them is superior to all our players and he would not even swap Rodri for Kante, as well as pointing out he is the best manager in the world and he has led teams to this glory, unlike TT who bottles finals etc etc.

This is what I expect of him.

As much as I believe that tuchel has to get it right on the weekend I also believe in a game of this magnitude it rests heavily on the players individually.

you need to pull your finger out and perform as you’ve been trusted to lead your club on the pitch in the biggest club level match there is! If a single player lets even the slightest bit of fragility into their minds it’ll affect every single other player.... problem is, we have a few of those players atm 😂

Just now we don’t have a Hazard to drag them all out of the mud.

I said a few weeks back with 5 games to go, that if we won most of the 5 it would be a good season and if we lost them it would be a pretty poor season after our spending and then sacking a club legend mid season.

Well turns out we lost 3 of the 4 so far, including criminally losing the FA Cup. We came within 15 minutes of missing the top four too only to be saved by Spurs of all teams.

Key question is whether we are a team of nearly men managed by a nearly man or whether we have bottle and can show up in the big moments. I think we have a squad to hurt them if we turn up. Critical that Kante and Mendy are fit though.

Important game for Tuchel. No one remembers Avram finishing second in a bunch of different comps. He needs to win this. Otherwise it's not out of the question that he goes the same way as Avram after the Moscow final.

Last time we got quick red card, we conceded 5 goals to a relegation team

Good point. But getting Werner sent off versus Silva sent off in this game is a big difference. Werner is almost like playing with 10 men anyway. A defender is vital in trying to contain their attacks, but our top scorer list suggests we don’t need Werner all that much. Zouma has as much chance of scoring for us.

So, in other words, ‘we’re f**ked’.

                       Alonso

                       Mount

              Kante Zouma Gilmour

Chilwell Silva Christensen Rudiger Azpi

                       Mendy

Thanks for the laugh I needed that

You have picked our most lethal finisher up top. It could work.

In 2008 we went to the depths of Mordor in search for glory, but a devil ironically named Cristianor hit us with a big blow, even so our greatest knight Lampard fought bravely and hit them back, still at the end we only had a close defeat and needed to wait for another chance to win against the evil reds...

Then 2012 came and even before the battle started it looked like we had no hope, we were against the ropes and the billow of red fans was about to swallow us but there was light and our king kept us alive and then we were victorious. Glory to our heroes of the past as we now stand on the shoulders of giants.

Now in 2021 the enemy has changed colors but it's an enemy that has its spider legs all over the world, they as the first global organization that is boosted by the energy of mud mixed with the remains of fallen creatures and dead flora have only one goal, to take what was never meant to be theirs.
We are the only ones left standing in their way, look at the brave young faces of Mason, Billy and Reece, ready to give their all for the Lion and for the Blue Fortress. So lift thine own head just as they and be not afraid of what is to come, for our new generation is only getting started, to live we must die so don't hold anything back in 4 days time, keep the Blue flag flying high!

the lord of the rings GIF

Just had a dream - it was a Man Utd - Man City Champions League Final which went to penalties. Marquinhos missed for Man Utd, and Rodri hit a fairly tame effort at Henderson which Bernardo Silva slotted in on the rebound. For some reason this was allowed to stand. Also Man Utd were still somehow in the Europa League Final against Villarreal. Not sure this is a sign of anything.
