Understand it but we will be horrible to watch today without a striker. Its suicide against Liverpool.

Lukaku has f**ked us and the manager will let the team suffer because of it. No win situation for Tuchel and the club.

On the biggest stage and in the biggest games i am infinity times more confident in Kai delivering the goods than I am Rom.

Unfortunately, history tells us otherwise, your 'I hope' suggests that you have reservations. Throughout the Abramovich era, there have been leaks of player power and ultimately it's the coach who has paid the price. The decision to drop him is on balance correct, we have a match to win, and taking this circus onto the pitch will not help the team in any shape or form. The atmosphere would likely be quite toxic on the terraces, as it is the fans now can galvanise their energy on driving the team forward. Winning this game is now imperative for Tuchel, big decisions are what he is paid to make though come at a cost if it all goes tits up.

A Chelsea manager especially a foriegn one may not see it 'paying a price'. They get to walk away with a hefty sum and straight into another big job. I think the fans who get emotionally attached to a world class manager will be the ones who pay the price.. But we are too used to change of managers now!!

Lets hope for the best in TT ending the season here with top4 and a trophy..

My thoughts exactly.

Manager is the boss and he's shown his cojones on this one.

Actually I'll go further.

Werner, Ziyech, Pulisic and Mount too. All of them have better big game records than Rom for us alone.

This doesn't make any sense at all. All the talk about a player not being bigger than the club, the perceived lack of respect, preferring the club to end 4th without Lukaku to 2nd with him: if this were even a choice for a supporter, that is exactly making the player bigger than the club, because you're letting him influence the season's result (and the higher prize money that comes with 2nd place). How is that respectful to the club, that needs the reputation of being successful and to show itself to be continuously in contention for silverware, to attract the sort of players that will help do that. In being so 'principled' about this, you can actually shoot yourself in the foot.

This situation is a bit like when 2 people are married and they stay together for the children but they really hate each other. It only has a slight chance of working if the children don’t find out that they hate each other. If the father is doing an interview on tv complaining about how much he hates the mother and how he wishes he was with his girlfriend instead of her, and the children see that, it is damaging to the children.

I understand you're not the biggest Romelu fan but come on, Pulisic hasn't been a big game player in 2 years and Ziyech has been awful to watch this season other than a few games. I can understand a front three of Werner, Havertz, and Mount working but those other two shouldn't be mentioned in anyway.

Pulisic - Real Madrid (goal and assist), Man City

Ziyech - Man City (twice), Atletico, Villarreal

Not too bad, right?

Given how much the team has suffered with injuries and fatigue in midfield/backline, I´m not sure I want a passenger up front against a team that will bring the heat like Liverpool. On workrate alone I´d prefer others over Lukaku. Not like he´ll muscle VVD/Matip/Konate. They´d have to use him more on the left to have a go at TAA. Does that mean he tracks back TAA´s runs?

I'm not saying they should play just emphasising that the idea losing Rom in a big game is like saying Arsenal miss Wenger's tactics in Europe.

I'll agree it would be a blow if this happened before Brighton (especially after his Villa cameo) but to say we'll miss him today simply doesn't stand up to the reality of his record in crunch games.

I’ll miss his constant complaining and whining that he didn’t get the ball his genius deserved

at first I thought it was just eagerness but now with this interview it seems more like arrogance

The comments by a few posters on here is why we’re such a circus at times, too many don’t care about stuff like this or defend the perpetrator, player power took over to the point now where we’re so blasé about players dragging the club through the mud. Pep has dropped Foden & Grealish for going out, in the past Ferguson has done this countless times, dropping players for doing or saying something he doesn’t like. As pointed out before, Chelsea managers have indeed had the odd win here and there with players. However, I feel we’re always another ‘incident’ away from a Lukaku-gate, which isn’t as prevalent at clubs that have built a culture of backing the manager to the hill.

Wants to return to Inter NOW apparently.

What an idiot.

Ferguson also made a good judgment call on Pogba. I know he can be a good player but he was spot on about his questionable mentality. He put mentality before quality and when he was gone they put merchandise and quality before mentality again and look where they are now

Its a shame it’s winter break it would be hilarious if he was spotted in the stadium watching their games, I bet he would do that. He is so out of touch

Judging by that banner I'd be surprised if he made is as far as outside Milan Malpensa.

Post of the year already LOL !

Thank you so much Lukaku, you f**king brain dead c**t. You've f**ked up big time. I've said it before we signed him bad, bad, bad move, no good for this club. been going to the Bridge now for 54years and never have i felt so wound up with this f**king prick, and for all those who didn't/can't see what a c**t this useless w**ker is tough, because he has single handedly f**ked this club up.

Get him out of the club now, if that is not possible give him the same treatment Aubameyang got from Arteta, out of the matchday squads, on the transfer list and in the stands until the summer. It is simply a disgrace to act like this as a pro footballer and the worst of it all it is the moment he chose to do this interview, we were already having a rough patch, last thing you want is your best earner at the club to make the situation even worse.

Compare Lukaku to Rudiger!!! That guy will be gone in the summer, but every single week he plays like he's just signed a bumper contract. I bet if Chelsea were to play a friendly in Thailand on the 30th of June 2022, one day before Rudiger's contract officialy expires and Tuchel would use him for the full 90 minutes, Rudi would give 110%, put his head into every tackle and play a meaningless friendly as if it is the World Cup Final.

Haven’t really been keeping up to date with all that’s been going on this last couple of days re this story and haven’t went through the many many posts on the site.

From what I see he has been dropped from today’s squad and think this is a ballsey decision by TT but the right one. One would imagine that RA would be fully behind the decision.

Don’t think his time at Chelsea would be totally over but he’ll have a lot of work to do to prove himself.
Whatever it is, it is, we are Chelsea after all, Champions of Europe and a top team this past 20 years and will remain so with it without Lukaku.
