Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

Unfortunately there is one major difference. Torres at Liverpool is one of top 3 strikers ever to play in this league. Lukaku is unable to finish a simple 1v1.

Werner was closer to scoring in just 20 minutes.

I disagree. There's a better three from Liverpool alone (Suarez, Owen and Fowler).

He had underrated strength, excellent pace and a freak burst of pace but his technical side was limited which is why David Villa always looked head and shoulders above him for Spain and why he declined so heavily once the injuries took his pace away.

Benitez literally set up a perfect system for him that played to all his strengths and minimized his weaknesses.

Interesting to hear Tuchel’s comments on lack of service FROM him. Does raise the question - why didn’t he sub him then. Maybe he felt he was still a key goal threat.

Havertz and Werner is not on form plus the recent Lukaku apology drove him into a corner.

He had to give Lukaku a chance to prove himself against a top team

He played exactly as I thought he would, we can't sit around waiting for him to flourish cause it might not even happen. But the budget has already gone to him, we can only hope to sign a random £20-30m player and hope they do well.

Broja might just might give us a get of jail free card here.

Well my decision would be commit to Kai up there and invest in wide forwards but that's not happening.

Lukaku is not going to like that. As true as it is.

Can see this marriage ending in a divorce quickly the way things are going. In some ways I have sympathy for Lukaku though. Going from a well functioning Inter attack with a partner in crime right beside him to the absolute dross he's surrounded by here.

The likes of West Ham and Leicester have better attacking players than we do.

Isn’t there an issue of not playing to his players strengths. How do you explain Tuchel playing Ziyech on the left, and Pulisic on the right? I still don’t think he is optimising the potential of these player, and he is hiding behind the back 5 formation.

Kai's presence up front makes it hard work for defenders on and off the ball, they have it easy against Lukaku, they have so much time on the ball because he cant get in their face, along with his lack of movement when were trying to find him (Tuchel agrees) and more worrying his lack of basic ball control and lack of aerial ability.

Yep he up top makes us incredibly fun to watch as a team. I wasn't even that annoyed after the Burnley game because I really enjoyed the football on display.

We don't have a define right to win every game and if we can't win fine but atleast make the game fun.

I think I'm very close to stop caring about Lukaku's feelings, Tuchel said a simple truth, a really good striker will create something for himself and Lukaku isn't doing it.

How about Kai's feelings, didn't he score the winning goal in the CL final? And for what, to get benched by Lukaku that can't win us a big game? Lucky for us Kai is more down to earth.

Isn't it time to consider the fact that our most impressive wins this season were performances where Lukaku wasn't even playing? Juventus 4:0 without Lukaku, Norwich 7:0, without Lukaku.

If he isn't scoring goals, what is he bringing to the table? At this point it's a fair question.

Our only hope is Tuchel, at least he see's what were seeing, and thinks Rom is way too static and virtually useless in our system.

Get him gone in the summer for f**ks sake; let him go back to Italy. This has been one of the biggest transfer mistakes in a long time. Just completely kills any forward pressing alongside an effective style of play we had before him. He’s akin to Ronnie at United; luxury player which sacrifices every good part of the team.

On another note if he does by some miracle get dropped after this he will likely play vs Plymouth who have a very let's just say old school centre half called Dan Scarr who will be licking his lips.

The only people we should be criticizing is the club. At least 80% of our fan base expected nothing less from him, and were really against this transfer. Not only that but we majorly over paid for him, 100m wtf were we thinking. We are stuck stuck with this massive mistake and the only thing we can hope for is that he can score a few goals against the smaller teams and win us points in those games, which tbf he has done on occasions. Everyone knows he is not a big game player, and should be nowhere near our team if we make it past Lille and into the quarters.

If it was "just" the fact he wasn't good enough i would agree but he's an absolute piece of work on top of that.

At United he leaked his teammates confidential training performance data because he was upset at being criticised, even Pogba got fed up with him.

Horrible game, lost his duels, and his touch was appaling.

Shouldve been played in many times but wasnt, however the 2 big moments fell to our marquee signing and he squandered both.

1st one, did well to roll defender, alproaches the box, we have 3v2, he is in a better position than what de bruyne actually scored in, he can either take the shot on himself, or lay it to Alonso for a clear strike, instead he overhit a reverse ball to Ziyech who us clearly offside.

2nd, brilliant play from Kovacic, and he finally gives Lukaku the service he needs, Lukaku takes the shot early, and it was a poor finish.

I can handle the bad touches, and lack of press, if he was at least doing what we signed him for, whichis making the difference in front of goal. So far he hasnt done that, and after that interview, his time is running out.

Speaking of his aerial ability, how can someone so big be so sh*t at this aspect? He constantly demands the ball played to his feet which is ironic given his technical skill or rather lack thereof, but he constantly struggles to claim long balls. Everything just looks awkward with him, it's almost like a bodybuilder who decided to take up football as a hobby.

I was willing to give him a chance. But he’s exactly what everyone feared. No touch, no passing ability, cannot dribble, cannot win a header, and cannot create a chance for himself. He more or less has to have it handed to him on a plate. I don’t think he’s going to improve. He needs to have Chilwell and James fit and putting balls into the box, but without them, he’s literally a liability and we’re better off without him. Not sure that’s what we were hoping for by spending a cool 100m pounds. Really depressing. If there was any chance we could recoup some money for him this summer, I think we’d be better off cutting our losses.

We paid the money for someone to be decisive in these situations. Come on Lukaku sort your sh*t out.

What happened in those two incidents is what we would have expected from any of our other forwards, chances wasted.

We did not spend near 100mill for a player in his prime to mess them both up.

Club need to stop burying their head in the sand. Most of us told them this would happen, told them he is still the same waste of space who is not a big game player with a big ego and a poor attitude, and they still bought him.

Need to bite the bullet, take the loss and ship him off to PSG for as much as we can get.

Nevermind Broja, Chris Wood would have been a better signing for us.

To add to this. There was not one person who didn't laugh and mock UTD supporters when he was there. Two years in a completely inferior league where he scored 24 and 23 and Ronaldo was scoring 30+, and we thought I know lets pay even more than UTD did for him. If he was putting those figures up in Italy at the best team, it would be safe to assume he would probably get less here, so the figures are baffling. I just don't understand it. We also knew there would be no resale value after his contract was up.

But the money is the least of our worries, or the lack of goals. What most of us are frustrated about is how bad a footballer he is. Horrible Horrible first touch, can't run more than 2 steps with the ball without it bouncing off his clown feet, cant pass, cant win headers in the air, DOESNT PRESS so already half our tactics are out of sync, I mean the list goes on and on. Not to mention he's extremely sensitive, and is constantly trying to convince people he's an elite striker and when its not going for him his confidence goes bang out the window.

As I mentioned above our only hope is he bullies the lower teams, and wins us those three points as opposed to those games where he didn't play and we ended up drawing, last year and this. That's about the best we can hope for. I would also take whatever cut price we can for him, give him to Spurs for £80m if they are dumb enough to go for it, and cut our losses. His signing completely went against the grain of us picking up the best young talents in the world, so again nothing made sense about this transfer, it didn't in the summer and it doesn't now.
