Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

I know you said it in jest but shouldn't that be close to the standard for our record signing? We signed him to do what he did yesterday multiple times a season.

Liverpool, City and Spurs coming up, now's his chance to make a statement by coming up clutch.

When he has been match fit this season his goal scoring record has been pretty decent. That being said what really encouraged me about him yesterday was his overall contribution aside from the goal. That is the Lukaku that we were hoping to see regularly this season.

I was most happy about the fact his presence wasn't negatively effecting our overall play which has been the case a lot of times this season.

I'm confident he will score against Brighton and help us to the win but after that it's a huge period for him. Three massive league games and a semi final, no if's or buts he has to deliever.

He's our best player, give him 2 chances he scores 1. On top of it he gets others involved. Sadly nobody is close to his level right now, feels like he's carrying the attack.

Well we have a monster fixture list next month against all odds (with the players we'll have out), the type of situations Drogba and Costa would always deliver in and get us off the hook.

Rom has to do the same, absolutely no excuses.

Romelu Lukaku to @SkySport: "Physically I am fine. But I'm NOT happy with the situation at Chelsea. Tuchel has chosen to play with another system - I won't give up, I'll be professional. I am not happy with the situation but I am professional - and I can't give up now"

"I really hope from bottom of my heart to return to Inter not at the end of my career, but when I'm still at top level to win more together". 🔵 #CFC

“I want apologize to the Inter fan, timing of my words was wrong: what you did for me will remain forever"

"Now it's the right time to share my feelings. I have always said that I have Inter in my heart: I know I will RETURN to Inter, I really hope so. I am in love with Italy, this is right moment to talk and let people know what really happened".

If that’s how you feel pal feel free to leave in the summer

Is that accurate? If so how can TT pick a player who has openly had a go at him and said he is not happy here?

Again IF he said that it is a pretty blatant attempt to make his position at the club untenable and force a move away.

I'd like to get annoyed but this side of his character is pretty well known, it was the main reason I didn't want him back.

I have no problem with him appreciating his time he spent in Inter, he was really loved there so that connection is something that stays. It's up to our fans to make him feel that same thing here. Judging from this forum alone doesn't represent the most Chelsea fans I get it but here at best Lukaku is getting mixed feelings from the fans. Maybe the mentality in other countries is different and the fan base of different teams may vary but I wonder if Lukaku ends up carrying us till the end of the season if most fans would appreciate that or not...

In regards to him complaining about Tuchel and not being happy with how things are here, I'm pretty sure that Tuchel hasn't changed anything from the initial change he did when he took over so Lukaku knew where he was coming. Him and Tuchel really need to see things in the same way, not sure what is wrong it sounds very vague.

Tbh I would quite like to hear the interview rather than read it because sometimes it can be taken out of context, but openly saying he isn’t happy about the system I’m not sure how it can be taken out of context, either way it’s a disrespectful thing to say especially at this point

It’s accurate. Fabrizio Romano did the interview and he is as rock solid as you can get with reporting accuracy.

He admitted he wanted to leave United after two games and leaked his teammates fitness reports online. Not to mention he's already left us under a cloud once.

This was always going to happen eventually, the only surprise Is the timing, why after two solid appearances? I expected it when he was spending extending time on the bench.

The club will need some clarity on what was said. Maybe he meant not happy how we have been treated during thus covid spell and his injury lay off?

I don't know, if it is as bad as it sounds that won't help his relationship with the club. Or maybe the club sack TT as he us cheaper to replace.

Honestly stunned at the timing.

Maybe he is trying to force us to let him leave in Jan.

If he ghosts these big January games after this he will genuinely become only the second ever player for this club I've strongly disliked.

Regarding him leaving Inter won't have him back, they've genuinely upgraded big time in Dzeko.

He is pandering big time to the Inter fans in the hope that they take him back. Is injured half the season and then complains he doesn't like the system. Sure, you knew what you were coming to but expect the whole team to change based on how you want to play. Never wanted him back but it is what it is.

I doubt they could afford him, would be a loan lol

Nothing to do with Inter that's just smokescreen, he's pissed because he isn't getting the silver spoon (unconditional starting spot).

Conte isn't at Inter anymore, if he goes back there he'll quickly find himself behind Dzeko to which he'll bleat about how his heart is still at Everton.

This counts double now btw.

You say you'll still remain professional Rom? Actions speak louder than words, time to put your money where your mouth is.

Not good at all, also strange timing considering he’s done well the last few matches.  First sign of disharmony among the squad. It will be interesting to see how Tuchel and the others handle this, it seems a little bit like the Diego Costa situation.

Now basically we have to give it to him, perhaps sacking TT as well, or end up with our most expensive signing every becoming a sulky huge flop...
