I don't know much about Penders, but on its own this signing might be reasonable if the scouts have done their jobs.

However, when you consider we have also spent decent money on young keepers Petrovic, Jorgensen, and Slonina in the last year or so this looks ridiculous. Not to mention we also purchased Sanchez just a year ago. I thought there were new limits on loans in which case how would we possibly ensure all these players have some first team action?

Maybe these owners just want expensive ball boys.

The homegrown players we are genuinely trying to replace have already been replaced with homegrown players. Not sure what you are talking about.

Up to this point. They are still actively trying to ship out Chilwell & Broja who fall into that category. There is also a club trained rules for European competitions which Gallagher & Chalobah fall under which their replacements don’t meet.

Problem is we don't even know these owners are buying which players for the first team and who they are hoping to flip for a profit. Everything about the club is so chaotic and disjointed. I feel a sense of apathy that I've never felt before. The disconnect is growing with each day now and I'm sure many of the fans share the same feeling. The club is unrecognisable and doesn't feel like a club anymore. Just a big operation to justify the whims and fancies of new owners.

Only Broja falls into that category. We already have a plethora of HG players and of which only 4 need to be club trained per UEFA guidelines. Colwill, James, and then we can expect the likes of George and Acheampong to stay.

This.

If you look at all of our signing as individual, it is OK. But if you look at it as collective, it looks like the way we make any signing is I think this player is undervalued and his wage demand is low, so let's snap him.

How do these owners define the value of any player? Paying amounts which no other club is willing to pay is not signing undervalued players but suicidal way over the top money. Probably a closer assessment would be to ask the top 10 clubs across Europe how much they'd be willing to pay for the players we've signed. I suspect other club would value most of our players at or less than 50% of what we paid.

Perhaps the club are going to start flipping players as houses are flipped. This kid will be out again in a month, with a profit of a few million. He just needs a bit of a polish and a new haircut, and ka-ching!

I feel like this was decided months ago and probably before Poch left. It may have even been one of the disagreements that led to Poch leaving. He clearly isn't keen to move, and by the look of things hasn't been offered a new deal. So the price keeps dropping and he may yet complicate things by deciding to see out his contract. Assuming he does leave I'd rather he went to Athletico, but I hope he only leaves if he gets the right move for himself as a player.

I said at the time that it was the reason why Pochettino quit. Gallagher was one of his key players and Chalobah was a regular starter at the start of the season, and the club had already decided to sell them. It's basically the owners saying to the manager that they don't care what he thinks, they are selling the players anyway.

Top coaches are going to avoid us going forward.

I'm conflicted, I really like the lad as a person, and I love his mentality on the pitch. I wish more players were like him, I'm a bit scared of selling personalities like Gallagher which are very much needed in the dressing room. Silva and Gallagher are gone, those are two fellas who are completely professional and give it 100% every game.

On the other hand, I don't think he's as good as many on here say he is, he had a good season but he's very technically limited. Even his England performances were very poor when he came on, when it's not going his way he looks like a headless chicken on the pitch, whereas in contrast to Palmer you can see he's got real quality.

30 million looks like a joke though, should be getting far more than that in this current market. But I knew he was going this season as soon as Enzo got in, he doesn't fit that system whatsoever, and the signing of Dewsbury Hall pretty much cemented that.

If we start playing well and the midfield works fine, Conor leaving is pretty quickly forgotten. If we don't...we know what we are capable of..

Yeah. We need to start winning for this to be trivial. Doubt anyone really cares we sold Mount anymore because of Palmer. Selling Gallagher means they are doubling down on their strategy so we need to start seeing results.

In Gallagher's case, he's arguably taking a step forward in his club career.

We have bought a 2m teenage goalkeeper who will train alongside the 2m teenage goalkeeper we already have here

Dress him in a magnolia kit and get Purple Bricks to get him on the market.

It’s not the sale of Conor that bothers me, he is within the last 12 months of contract and it's understandable the club don’t want to lose him on a free. It has though been widely known for over 12 months  the board see him as profit to help fund their splurge in the market for more perceived young talent, most who will never see the light of day in a Chelsea shirt other than signing on day. It’s the symbolism of what we have become as a club, back room staff that have given many years preparing our winning sides of the past have been shown the door. Neil Bath who has overseen our world renowned academy has seen the light and moved on.  We have become a farm for players who are seen just as commodities. The academy will produce more players than we can use and is there mainly to bring the next generations into the game we all love. Do our owners attach the same love of the sport as we do? I sincerely doubt it other than the profits they might gain. So Conor along with Trev will be shown the door this year, they both managed to live their dream of playing for the first eleven, whilst players who are distinctly inferior are retained. Can that be right? We have lost our soul as a club and gradually the disconnect from the fans will become ingrained.

Even just going on the Transfermarkt "Market Value" data at time of purchase, they've overspent to the tune of €417m Euros LOL

€1.234 billion of transfer fees on 39 players with "Market Value" of €817m ... 🙂

Yes. I suspect that the Dewsbury-Hall signing was an effort to build some goodwill with Maresca, following the disagreements with Poch. But even if Maresca has some success as our manager, in a year or so he may come to the same disagreements with the owners/football directors if they decide that some of his key players are next in line to generate the required income.

So he was offered a deal with wages akin to Enzo and Caicedo, and he turned it down?

If it's true, it could be another Mount situation where he doesn't believe in the project and is looking to get out quickly.

If true and a big if then the club has done their bit to keep him.
I saw a post saying Conor was more Chelsea and Reece odd that.

I dont buy it mate. Source seems very much in the owners pocket.

Conor and his family are Chelsea through and through. No chance he knocks back an offer like that. None.

I guess the only way to know is if it comes from him, which is unlikely seeing as footballers love to give nothing answers.

The clubs done nothing to keep him. Playing under 5 different managers over a couple of years, assembling a 1st team full of youth and championship players managed by a championship manager, a club with no aspirations of competing for the title or in Europe and the future looking increasingly bleak…I would be looking to get out asap.

Conor won't. He wont say anything bad about the club and focus on what this move does for him and his career.

However we have his many interviews after games showing how much he loves the club and wanted to be here for a long time.
