July 18, 20233 yr From what I read, it sounds like the ppl who treated his last injury didn’t treat it well

July 18, 20233 yr Really sad. Thats probably his Chelsea career in the bin honestly. Think its his fourth severe injury thats knee related.
July 18, 20233 yr TBH I’d rather keep Trev and look within at our youth and see who could step up and then decide. No way to Maguire at any cost, that would be giving Man Utd a solution to a problem they have and weakening us at the same time. I’d rather spend the money on a decent goalkeeper, we could of got Onana for £45m. Edited July 18, 20233 yr by 2211
July 18, 20233 yr Gotta feel for the poor sod, his career could be at stake here. Frankly its secondary that Chelsea lose him as a player.

We really don't need another CB as is. Even with Fofana out for the season. If we get desperate rather we look at Humphreys.

There were rumours a while back that we were trying to shift him to Bayern. Didn't quite believe them at first but could very well be true afterall. May be the first example of those extremely long contracts coming back to bite us in the arse.
July 18, 20233 yr Maybe spending 75m on a player that had just been out for a season due to injury wasn't a good idea
July 18, 20233 yr Does FFP take this into regard? I take it that he is properly insured etc. Anyway, hope that Colwill makes the most if this.

They will all be insured certainly. If he is 200k a week then that's 10m a year. So we'd be bridging any wage costs against that. Feel for the guy though, quality player but brittle. Think that's him done as a first team prospect and realistically we will probably be looking for a new CB - hopefully next summer though.

July 18, 20233 yr It was foolhardy to pursue him at the price Bully did, he was recovering from a major knee injury, had not really played that many EPL games to warrant the fee, but T. Bully knows best as he continues to spunk wads of Clearlake cash. If it wasn't for this lad's age it would be almost as poor a signing as KK, which by a stroke of good fortune Bully has managed to extrapolate himself from. The poor decisions made last season combined with the fire sale of experienced players this one will haunt the club for years to come.

No he isn't, he stepped down from his 'director' role last winter and now has little to no say in transfers. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11615471/amp/Chelsea-owner-Todd-Boehly-QUITS-role-interim-sporting-director-disastrous-summer.html
July 18, 20233 yr Fofana relies a lot on athleticism whereas Badiashile and Colwill are more technically gifted in composure and passing. It's why I was always under the impression Pochettino would prefer the latter two given he implements a system where the wingbacks bomb forward and the CBs remain high but with strict positioning.

Pretty much this Ted Lasso thought he was doing “Soccer” and made some stupid decisions on buying players. The new sporting directors will take a couple years to fix this mess but credit to them they are doing a good job so far.
July 18, 20233 yr Wishing him the best on the reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation. Terrible news. Never really been injury free for a long time and have to wonder how his body recovers. Stay strong Wesley
