January 5, 20233 yr Lads, he did the bare minimum. Up until the final third, like every other midfielder we have, his brain froze. No thanks.
January 5, 20233 yr He’s a decent all rounder midfielder. Yes it’s bare minimum but it’s more than what we’ve got at the moment. We’re not really in a position to be fussy. For 24m it’s a no brainer.
January 6, 20233 yr Everyone keep saying he did the bare minimum, no he didn't just do the bare minimum he did his job far better that the rest in our team in the last two games in a row now having been on the bench for a long period and having a bad injury at Juve. He was one of the most highly rated players in Europe, there is a reason why he ended in a Juve and not Atalanta.

Juve were also willing to let him go when they themselves already have a tragic midfield. Going to need to do a lot more. Like someone mentioned, the perfect analogy on Zakaria is that he’s a decent looking girl in an office full of men. Not the greatest but it’s the only decent thing available. Not going to be suckered like Ruben Loftis-Cheek in 2018.

The fact that this type of player can come to Chelsea and improve our midfield kinda show the reality of our midfield.

We should be keeping an eye on Juve, if they hold a fire sale wouldn’t mind raiding them for Chiesa & Locatelli

Granted Italy have underperformed recently but Locatelli is still a decent midfielder and whilst Rabiot polarises opinion i think he showed in the WC that he is a decent player. He has always been a good player, in my opinion, its just his temperemant that has always been a bit suspect. I would still take him here.

Have they been given any official punishment or is it still all up in the air?

January 6, 20233 yr With his profile he is so much better suited to Prem rather than Italy. I really liked how he performed against City. Apart from Silva he looks like the one player that is a sure starter. I also like his persona. He has fire but seems a very easy going fella. He stood up against City player and really got that fire and anger we need to instill some fight in the side that we are desperately lacking.
January 6, 20233 yr Also he managed to dribble his way out of 3/4 players pressing him! That really impressed me and felt like it showed a glimpse of his potential. I feel he could become a very good all rounder midfielder.
January 6, 20233 yr I thought he was brilliant against city and motm for me. Kovacic and Zakaria dominated the city midfield in my opinion. I would love it if we signed him, even as a squad player he would be more useful than loftus cheek and a few others that deserve to be sold asap.

January 6, 20233 yr With Kante and Jorginho coming to the end of their contracts i'd be happy if we spent the 24M on Zakaria as the Kante replacement then spend big for someone to replace Jorginho. We then obviously still have Kovacic, Gallagher (can see him leaving), RLC, Chukwuemeka, Hall ,Casadei etc.
January 6, 20233 yr Brilliant performance from him. Really liked the look of the Kovacic and Zakaria partnership, we need to stick with this for the foreseeable. Good performance overall, unlucky not to get at least a draw, but same old problem. Good play until the final third but no one able to find and execute the correct final pass. Missing that elite passer with flair and vision.
