Joao Felix

Maybe this whole Felix story is just his agent doing what he does and we’re not really interested. We’re pretty well covered in his preferred position.

My guess is that we backed out of the Omorodian deal to focus on Osimhen and we’re happy with Guiu and Jackson to compete upfront. Feel sorry for the lad for the way he’s been treated but it’s a ruthless business.

Don’t know where this leaves Atletico regarding Gallagher. Were they counting on the fee for Omorodian? There’s still a likely market for Omorodian somewhere else I’d imagine.

If true I suspect that the Gallagher deal will collapse and we will struggle to deal with Ath Madrid in the future.

I’d like to keep Noni for sure.

As much as I think we don’t need Felix at all I’d rather him play than Mudryk, at least Felix looks like a professional footballer.

We should put this energy into a top quality striker.

If Conor doesn't get sold because we backed out of the Omorodion deal , I wouldn't blame him if he ran his contract down.

Maybe Spurs will come in for him ?😭

JF enjoyed his time at Chelsea and he was liked by the club. He was apparently close to joining last summer.  IF we sign him, then we really must let Sterling and Mudryck go.  I would keep the Noni – but Noni is the only one of those 3 who would be in demand.

Felix was going to be the next big thing at one point. He cannot really be over the hill at 24. Can he? do we want him? I cannot make up me mind.

I really don't want us to sell Madueke. He's the one player that has looked decent in pre-season. I don't see the point in signing these young players on long term contracts if we are just going to sell them two seasons later.

I think that’s the business model now, though. Buy them cheap and flip them within a couple years for a nice profit. I don’t necessarily want Noni gone but he’s also probably the easiest one to sell. Good performances, very young, and don’t forget, his book value is quite low as he will have been amortized over the length of the long contract as it was before the limit to 5 year amortization was implemented. His book value is something around 4.5 million per year. If Newcastle want to offer £40m or more, I think he’s sold.

What’s Madueke done wrong that he’d be considered for sale? I can think of a couple of other wingers who I’d prefer were shown the door.

Agreed. I will be really annoyed if he goes and as much as I will always support the team, I hate the policy of the owners. You buy young players who begin to show promise in our actual team instead of a loan but then ship them off at the earliest opportunity. Madueke reminds me of Martinelli. Arsenal bought him when he was really raw and had a few injuries to begin with, but difference is Arsenal persisted with him and he developed his game. He was below par by his standards last season but season before he got like 15 league goals in their title quest with City. He also has looked quite good pre-season and is genuinely a good wildcard to have from the right hand side this season.

Madueke is only 22 and is one of those wingers who defenders hate to play against because he will constantly run at you. I will say this now, despite all our attackers on books, selling Madueke would be very naïve and typical. He is a good player who will get better.

Tell Atletico they can shove João Felix up their arse and f**k off while they're doing it.

Atletico and Real are the only Spanish clubs with any money. Gallagher is a pilot. We've loads more players to sell over the next 2 years.

United fans calling for them to offer 100mill for Cole Palmer if we sign Felix.

Not enough. But I do think the board would listen if the offer was £120-£150m.

This is all a mess, and seems like it is not of our doing.

Essentially, Atheltico dont have enough on the balance sheet to pay for Connor, and so wanted to sell us Samu so that they can bank the pure profit he would bring.  Now that that deal has fallen through, Madrid are flip flopping due to the way they have over exposed themselves.

Felix, for however good or bad he may turn out to be, doesnt offer as big of a profit to them. They pruchased him for £113 in 2019 - on 7 year contract. This is equal to £16m per year  (£80 gone so far) and therefore Madrid still have a book debt of c. £33m on Felix. If they sell him to us for £40m, that is only netting them £7m profit.... So they need more.

The answer to this is simple, we give them an extra £10-15m for Felix, and they do the same for Connor. That way, the profit for the respective sales goes up, and the extra expenditure will be amoritised over the next 5 years - kicking the can down the road for another day.

The question is, do we want Felix that much (or Connor gone that badly) to do the deal.

I sm one of very few who wanted us to keep Felix last time round.  Palmer aside I think he is far more equipped than anybody else in our squad to unlock a well organised defence. Yes his stats during his brief spell with us aren't great but stats rarely tell half a story. He was surrounded by a team playing as if they had spent 72 hours trying to satisfy Katie Price sexually.

I don't want Connor sold but that ship is all but sailed. If we can organise a deal that sees Felix replace him I'd be happy with that. We can't expect Pslmer to drag us through another season abd I think they'd link up well.

To play where though? The club is briefing that he can play on the LW, as a SS & a 10. The problem is Maresca doesn’t use the latter two, so it makes no sense. At LW, we already have Sterling, Murdyk & Tyrique George, club are also saying Neto was bought to play on the LW.

I reckon a few fans have a short memory about his stint here, he is the laziest player I have ever seen in a blue shirt, couldn’t pick a pass to save his life, and kept shooting in impossible positions when a pass was a smarter option. Now ask yourself why no top club is interested given his low fee & intention to take a pay cut. Bayern, PSG, City, Liverpool, Arsenal & Barca are all after a quality attacker but somehow we are the ones Mendes is pushing him to in a position we are stacked.

This hasn't been true in years.

Go back and watch his performances for his dream club Barcelona and come back with a straight face and still repeat what you've said. If he can play that badly at his dream club how much worse would he be with us?

Felix signed a new contract with AM last season which negates the original contract's amortisation.

I can't believe we would consider getting Felix.

Technically a wonderful player yet his head is not in the game and will flop wherever he goes, though he will have great misses.

If the Gallagher sale falls though I also think our relationship with AM will falter. sadly.

It's insane what's going on. Never in the history of football transfers we've seen sh*t like this. Atletico are basically saying - "We buy your good experienced player but in turn you have buy our sh*t inexperienced player for the same amount" with the Samu deal and we're going along with this sh*t as if it's a sound strategy.

not 100% sure, but I think all that means is that whatever was left on his book value at the time he signed the extension, is then re-amortised over the length of his new contract.

In which case, the new contract doesn’t really change much in terms of his total overall value/financial burden to pathetico putrid if they are to sell him….

The merit of the strategy cannot be judged at this stage.

In theory, shifting out a player we deem as replaceable, and who is not featuring in our first team plans - and swapping him for a world leading young striker, could be sound. If Samu turns out to be the next Haaland, then a swap for Connor would be heralded as a master stroke.

We cannot say the strategy is sh*t - until it is proven to be sh*t.

What we can say it is a high risk/high potential reward strategy.
