Honestly, I think it will take a pre-season with a top coach and a couple of games. We know alot of these players are more than capable with the right set up.

It's easy to blame the players out there but you can see that they did not how to cope with Brighton today and that is on our coaching staff. We have the talent and its up to the staff to set them up correctly and get the best out of them. You don't do that in modern football by just saying they need to know how to play for the badge. Its short sighted.

Sterling, Gallagher, Mudryk, Fofana, Cucurella were all top players for their clubs last season. They can do it and we have alot of players who won the champions league under Tuchel.

This is not a long term problem and I genuinely believe we are a top class manager and striker away from top 4.

We could not cope with the press and my biggest fear this season is that we are just going to destroy our confidence even more under Frank. If there was a chance to get Enrique in now I would bite your hand off.

I like the optimism but do you really trust our clueless owners to pick the right manager to sort this mess out?

There is something similar with us and Newcastle after their takeover. They almost got relegated at some point and now they are fighting for CL.

Newcastle were in a far worse situation before their takeover. they were fighting relegaton before that and bearly escaped it after. Chelsea were 4th last season and 2x  Champion League champions. cant compare the two.

Yes. The change of ownership at Newcastle ultimately just saved them last season. They made key signings in January window that kept them up. That wouldn't have happened under the old ownership. Also the Newcastle owners showed a lot more patience, both with the manager Howe, and with new signings. By comparison our owners have been like a bull in a china shop.

Worry for me is this isn't going to be a easy fix, this will cost us the next 2 seasons at the minimum.

We have a squad full of over paid charlatans who couldn't care less about Chelsea. We have spent a fortune in assembling the worst group of footballers I have ever seen play together.

Will be years to get rid of them and we won't exactly have the funds to do it all again which is sadly what is needed as this squad is a abysmal.

Remember when Lukaku was our biggest issue...oh take me back to those days

What Todd bought was raw, untested, unproven talent based on stats..'futures' if you like. What we haven't seen is all this raw talent assembled for one game playing there right positions, because while the likes of Ziyech, Sterling, Kovacic, PEA, Pulisic, Havertz, Gallagher and Loftus Cheek to name a few, still occupy places in the squad the 'futures' will never develop. They will want out, they will be sold.   In addition, you have what another 4 or 5 players coming in the Summer. Maybe Todd thinks he's assembling an NFL team or an MLB team with the number of players we have...sorry Todd but you can't send this lot to the 'Minors'.   He has created the worlds biggest headache for himself and the club.  There will be wildfire sale after the season that's for sure unless he somehow manages to buy another team in Europe and develop them there as well as farming out the elders that he can't get rid of.    And best of luck who ever gets the job of sorting this mess out because they are going to need a miracle to get back on track.

For those who are “done” for the season - we are done for the season in terms of the league  but your club needs your support more than in the last 20 years

heads up - the only way is forward

They don't need us, because I genuinely believe they don't give two sh*ts about us. If they did, then the least they would do is put 100% into every game of football. I don't see that from most of them, even from the academy players like James. Every single game I see players bullied, outrun, outplayed, I never see them shouting to each other, instructing, demanding more, it's just heads down and jogging around the pitch. I wish football was full of the Kante types, but all I see is a bunch of self obsessed dickheads obsessed with social media likes and flexing their cash.

I don't even recognise this club anymore. It's like all of the fire has gone out of it in the past 12 months.

Absolute nonsense again, I respectfully ask if you have attended a game at The Bridge ?

no matter how hard it gets everyone will moan during the match after the match etc that is fine, but there would always be a rallying cry ! Normally on the way out ….. this is what I was doing earlier in this thread that’s all

You sound like a scouser when you want to give up on your club, and I am really sorry to say that because you are obviously not

Look forward

Brighton is playing fantastic football, you don't just stop them but it was  obvious we played much better after the sub.

Mitoma impact was very different after James + Ziyech came in. We should have lost by 5 in the 1st half, I can't say the same thing in the 2nd half. I also thought our pressing was much better when Mount came on.

Mitoma ran his socks off the first 45 minutes, his impact was low the entire second half (at which moment Enciso's impact became higher and higher). Like i said, the first 10 minutes after the subs Brighton did whatever they wanted, without any danger nor oppositiion from Chelsea players), and the following 10 minutes weren't any different, only the last 15 minutes of the team were decent but not nearly enough to be labelled as good. Sorry, i didn't see any real substancial improvement with the subs, even if the subs were good decisions.

how the hell did Kepa get to wear the captains band we need to sell him only he wont go because of his amasing wages

slow  lost most tackles , passing was non existent  we aloud there defence  to do what ever they liked   only person that harassed them was Gallagher

the players have excepted  lack of movement and lack of effort from each other , they dont care if they are given hospital pass,s as they just wont go for it

playing with a midget up front against Brighton  is suicide  and we have proved it   , Do we not have a 6ft,4 player in the club reserves  any bloody wear  cant do any worse than having a 4ft target man

Lamps loved you as a player and a club legend  but ishow some balls you have nothing to lose  you aint getting the job

Frank Lampard:

"I've been at the club nine days, I don't like what I saw today. I'm not going to try & dress that up in any way. We have to be really honest about that."

As badly as I want Frank to be brutally honest about the club and players, he needs to be honest about his inability to organize a team as well.

On my way back and sadly all I can say is that we looked more competent under Bruno Salter than under Lampard. I really don’t know what was that that I saw today at the Bridge, really shambles and a team that doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Worst game of the season. That’s telling.

I can’t believe some fans are surprised at the sh*t being served. We have squad bloat like a Zeppeliner. The team being rotated too much makes it practically impossible to create relations on the pitch. One bad game and you’re normally out for the next and back in after that. Maybe the player next to you changes every time you actually play because he sucked when you were benched. The same song plays tactically. 3atb didn’t work last game? Let’s go for 4-2-4 against one of the best possession playing teams in the league. Also put a relatively slow and not-match-fit central defender at fullback against a team-of-year candidate winger. Potter did the same so not specifically directed at Lampard.

HOWEVER. I can’t believe the owners would bring him in as an interim. Doesn’t make sense at all. Interim managers are supposed to be a safe, experienced and effective pit stop when trying to save a season. Frank doesn’t check a single quality you’d want in an interim. Might as well have let Bruno stay in charge until the summer.

Ugh, can’t wait for this all to be over. Get a quality manager, get rid of at least seven players, get a striker and a DM and forget this absolute nightmare season.

Kepa’s the only reason we haven’t lost by 3 or 4 today. He’s not world class, yes, but he has made some good saves today that kept us in the game. He can only do so much when our defenders are letting chance after chance to happen.

True. He was our best player today. But it will only  be another game or two before his melty wrists let an easy save slip from his grasp. Or his flappy hands flip the ball 2 feet away when he mis-judges another corner/cross/free kick.

An attacking focal point, centre-forward, whatever you want to call it, is our most dire need by far but we also need a top class keeper better than both Kepa and Mendy.

Perhaps i wasnt clear enough I was not criticizing his performance just the fact he was Captain

If you  promote the guy who  only stays because of the cash  and have an owner the buys rubbish  what message is this giving to the team  and we fans wounder why it looks like they dont care ? its the message coming down from the TOP

True, but I was responding to the claim tha Kepa’s the reason we lost today. He was certainly not. We were pants all over, but Kepa saved our arses a few times today.

At this point I think the only sensible thing we can do is at the end of the season have a private and honest chat with Frank and ask him who is not good enough to stay.

It’ll be a long list obviously, but the last thing we need is any new manager saying “clean slate for everyone”.

The first step of any kind of redemption is to once and for all get rid of the deadwood at this club.

I honestly think who we sell is more important than who we buy.

100%. It would have been a lot worse without him today RMH.

I don’t know but I get a feeling that James and Mount should be on that list.

together with

Pulisic, RLC, Koulibaly, Cucurella, Ziyech, Havertz, Kepa, Felix, Sterling.

players who consistently time and time and time again deceived to deliver or show anything everytime they are trusted to play.

To be honest I'd say that once you keep a hold of Silva, Kante, Chilwell, Enzo and James (I accept James has dipped) there isn't a single other player that I'd care that much at losing. Actually  add Fofana to that list.

I'm not saying sell them all as that just isn't feasible

What I'm saying is selling any, or some of the rest wouldn't be a mistake.

I’d add the youngsters bought in January to that list. Otherwise, agreed.
