April 16, 20242 yr What a difference a good win makes. I still don't think Pochettino knows his best or preferred side, which due to the injuries isn't surprising. But one thing is clear and I've been saying it all season, we always looks a much better side when Sterling doesn't start and Silva is in the defence. And on the evidence of last night, you might want to add Enzo not being in the side looked to improve us too. Honestly think it won't take more than a few tweaks to have us top 4 next season. Posts saying we are a million miles away from top 4 tend to be knee-jerk after a performance where we throw away points (which has happened way too often this season admittedly). But when a young side start playing as they did last night and gain confidence and momentum, plus you add just a bit of experience to steady the ship (as Silva will obviously need replacing), then I think we can compete with anyone on our day and we just need that day to be more often than it has this season. Now let's give Man City a semi final to remember............................!

Now let's give Man City a semi final to remember............................! One massive tell of a young side is the inconsistency between games and inside games. That is something experience brings; consistency. When our core players are 20-23 we have absolutely no chance of controlling this. We'd need to buy experienced players to key areas if we want to accelerate things. You can see how we have no players who see the football game being a 90 minute contest. Gallagher is probably the sole exception of a player that understands the game that way. Even someone like Cucurella is such a bonehead in that sense. These young lads want their moments and they want to score 100 goals in a game. Madueke/Jackson incident was 100% of that ilk.
April 16, 20242 yr If only the 20 goals of Palmer were a bit more spread out, it would be annoying not to finish top 6 while having such a player but I'll fully back Pochettino if we win against Arsenal.
April 16, 20242 yr I think the penalty fiasco demonstrates how immature these players are and what Poch is dealing with.

April 16, 20242 yr Does anyone find it strange how quick Poch is to backtrack on certain comments or rephrase questions to avoid being seen as talking down on the owners. It could just be as English isn't his first language but there were a couple of times last night in the sky interview and in the presser after that he took a question the completely different way just to avoid slandering the owners. The example in mind was Carragher asking him if the penalty situation today was an example of comments he made in the week of needing to bring in more experience. Rather than answer the question, Poch spent the entire answer explaining how it hasn't been decided that we need more experience, that there is a process we will follow in the summer and it will be agreed with the sporting directors and that he is very happy. Just seemed like a strange, very obvious step away. Something I think hes done a few times this year, another being when he'd been quoted as wanting to bring in some players in January but then the next press conference said he was happy with the squad as it is.
April 16, 20242 yr I was just happy to see him come out and show some bottle against the players. These are youngsters who need a leader to improve them mentally as well as physically, someone like Jose for example would have stamped stuff like this ages ago. I'm still very much in the Poch out camp but a lot can change between now and the end of the season. The performance and his condemnation of the players' immaturity was a good start but it needs to be done on a consistent basis and unfortunately as it stands I've seen no evidence that we'll keep it up.

April 16, 20242 yr We mauled Everton, leagues top talent Palmer hits 4 goals - Sky hold my beer https://www.skysports.com/football The only thing interesting to them is the penalty kick debacle from the game. 🤣

Especially after we've already seen this type of thing this season. Sterling grabbing the ball from Palmer and missing at Leicester - it should have been dealt with there and then. Anyway, draw a line under it and we move on.
April 16, 20242 yr I'm on Pochettino's side with this one. Every single one of them going on and on and on about the penalty incident. It was such an English press thing to do, focus on the drama.
April 16, 20242 yr Good on Poch I say. He’s starting to realise it’s a Chelsea thing. Us winning without any drama is a non story so us winning with a bit of drama is still something negative they can still talk about in their eyes.

Didn't need a set piece specialist until they went and got one anyway.

Neil barnett. the prick who used to be our stadium announcer I got hugged by Neil Barnett once, when I was having a pint at Frankie's after a match with a bloke who knew him. My dubious claim to fame He was nice enough I must say, not full of himself as I feared.
April 17, 20242 yr He is a strange one. Sometimes he comes across okay and still pro-Chelsea - others times as a right w**ker.
