loved his enthusiasm

hope to see more of him in the future, we need that sort of spirit more

edit: oh sh*t i already made a topic about him but not in the general section, sorry mods

Did he have a bad injury before? It's almost unheard off for one of the Cobham lads to be without a loan at the age of 20 unless he arrive in the squad early ala CHO.

Alfie has always looked good whenever I've watched him play, unfortunately for him we are pretty stacked with CB's at the moment. But I hope we see him introduced more, maybe I've got the youth-tinted lens on but I wouldn't mind him playing over Disasi in a future game.

Next week against Preston would be a great opportunity to see that

No, no real bad Injuries as far as I can remember. He's just been kept at the club, maybe because he was captain of the youth team.

Chelsea physiognomy personified, down to every lineament, it’s like someone put the identity and soul of the club in a blender and sculpted this guy from the raw materials.

Preordained.

Chelsea is delighted to confirm defender Alfie Gilchrist has signed a new contract until 2026, with a further one-year option.

The Academy graduate has established himself in the first team squad this season under Mauricio Pochettino and has made 12 senior appearances for the Blues.

‘Signing this contract at Chelsea is a massive achievement for me and my family,’ said Gilchrist. 'It was a no-brainer and every time I’ve signed a contract here it has felt nicer and nicer. But now I want to keep on pushing on and keep improving.’

Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said: 'We are delighted to give Alfie this new contract at Chelsea.

'It has been a pleasure to see him continue his development within the club by breaking into the first-team squad this season. We are looking forward to seeing him progress further in the years to come.'

A boyhood Chelsea supporter, Gilchrist joined our Academy as an Under-11 and moved through the age groups at Cobham.

It was during the 2020/21 campaign that he cemented himself as a regular for the Under-18s. Gilchrist captained the side on multiple occasions, was named Scholar of the Year, and signed a professional contract.

GILCHRIST EXTENDS BLUES CONTRACT! ✍️

Defender Alfie Gilchrist has extended his stay at Chelsea until 2026.

The following season, Gilchrist captained the Under-18s to the Premier League Cup and made ten appearances for our Under-21s.

He became a regular at that level last season and took on the captaincy midway through the campaign after Bashir Humphreys departed on loan.

Gilchrist continued as Under-21s skipper at the start of the season but by December had established himself in the first team squad under Pochettino. His debut against Crystal Palace followed and Gilchrist has made 11 further appearances.

Congratulations, Alfie!

Loan him out while we keep a bunch of average or never-fit defenders, great idea 🤔 Got feel for those lads coming through the ranks, rarely get a proper go, easily replaceable by some unknown wonder kids from the other side of the world, and end game is sell for Pure Profits.

Which wonder kid has been keeping Gilchrist out of the team this season ?

Thiago Silva ?

Do we really believe he can make it here? He's a very average, traditional English defender. Not a lot to his game. Hasn't been called up at any level for the national team.

Probably more reliable than Disasi and Badiashile at least.

But no, pure profit sale and a low one I would guess.

Probably not, but we can loan him out next year, see how he does. Also, he's a CB isn't he? And this manager has only played him at RB. Hard to judge.
