Based on what Maresca wants from him wide players, and shown by that he is not willing to play Palmer out wide. IF Big Enz is still the manager next season, will Estevao (and Paez) just be back ups to Cole Palmer?

I bet he can't wait to leave his homeland as a wonderkid, being compared to Neymar, playing for the Brazilian international team, breaking records, and then coming to an average Chelsea team , and sitting on the bench 😂

Palmer in the middle, Estevao on the wing.

Great show ahead of us, just let Estevao do his thing and please no gym bs!

I've watched the first minute of that video and he's done absolutely nothing to suggest he'll have any impact in PL2 let alone the PL ... didn't even like the music LOL

Was Brighton's Lewis Dunk lucky to escape red card for tackle on Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski?

Looks brutal. So how does benching him or loaning him help ?! I don't know anything about Brazilian domestic football, but I'm guessing that brutal tackles happen ?

But considering the different pace that our game is played at , maybe it would be a good idea not to chuck him in straight away. He's had a couple of injuries already, so I'll concede that my eagerness to see him play might be best to be put on hold.

Thanks for the photo!

Btw, that "tackle' by Dunk? What was the outcome,?

Was listening to Tim Vickery the other day.

He raves about Estevao. He backed up and repeated his earlier quotes saying he’s is 100% the real deal. At least as good as Neymar at that age.

He was praising Paez and said he’s coming back from a dip in form. He said the closest player to him in the PL is Foden.

Vickery certainly knows South American football better than most so I’m hoping he’s spot on here.

I am excited by the possibility of Paez and Estevao fulfilling their potential with us, oping they form an amazing front 3 with Cole behind a main striker.

Though I am left wondering if that is possible, will that 3 give you enough work rate and defensive effort? Even if they are as good as hoped for it would be like having Hazard, Messi and Ronaldiniho, and dream come true for us fans but I doubt a manager like Maresca, who values defensive contributions, would accept it.

I don't think anybody doubt estevao talent. The question how ready is he for PL?

Is he Mudyrk, madueke, Jackson or Palmer?

Paez is actually better in the middle of the park, in the role Maresca has Enzo playing.

Hmm, interesting. Thought he was a 10.

So he will end up as Enzos back up you think?

Just his 2nd game (a derby) of the season that has just restarted in Brazil, wouldn't make anything of that video. Pretty much a pre-season game at this point. Nothing to be worried about, his team as a whole started badly but will probably pick up soon.

Cheers mate. Actually I recall watching a video of Hazard before he arrived at Chelsea and I thought why the f**k are we  buying him, he's useless!  Couldn't have been more wrong  !

There's no way you watched Hazard at Lille and came to that conclusion

Not just the video did him no favours, he didn't look very good against Brighton in the friendly at the Amex before the season started. It might have been his first game for us I reckon?..My memory has him shooting miles over the goal at one point..

It was a boiling hot day, I might have had sunstroke after boozing pre game outside a pub in Brighton ! He turned out quite good didn't he ,,,?

Fantastic goal, the question what happen when pl cb/fb put their hand on him, can he still do this

I don't worry about his strength as much two other things

  • His speed/agility - a bit like Vinicius he will need to work on his first step as European level defenders are just much faster and more agile than what he is facing. He will win lots of fouls but won't be able to evade being brought down

  • The fact that no one in our squad will ever been in a position to feed him the ball with interplay like Veiga did

I am not sure whether it's balance, strength or agility. But many young attacker that come from abroad lose their balance/touch when pl defender put their hand on them

They don't lose it, it's just harder to pull off because of the intensity of the league.

Can foresee lots of shirt pulling, shoulder to shoulder, and if in doubt a full on chop or ankle kick to take him down.

Basically similar treatment to what Hazard used to get.
