December 8, 20241 yr Just now, Scott Harris said: I never wanted Postecoglue. I remember people going on like he was already a top top coach, but he hadn't managed in a league better than league 1 level (I'm being kind) and there is good reason for that. His tactics are suicidal, a sh*ttier version of Bielsa's suicidal tactics. His tactics are insane, doubled up by being ridiculously stubborn in never changing them.
December 8, 20241 yr He's really starting to make an impact now. Just gotta stop the silly nonsense at the back and see out games better and I think we can go very far.

In fairness I feel being in a dominant side even in a weaker league is better preparation for a job like Chelsea than being in a weaker team in PL. But yeah in Anges case he's well too stubborn. The hilarious thing is the one time he decided a solid shape was important was against City last season when Spurs getting something was likely going to hand their biggest rivals the league.

Fofana also has hardly any composure. We genuinely need a top CB and GK next summer. Or even January.
December 8, 20241 yr We’ve got a proper manager on our hands, Class act. He’s right though we’re not title challengers yet can’t be conceding at the rate we do and expect to win titles.
December 8, 20241 yr Spurs 3rd goal is a reason why we won’t win the title…but what a great win and performance

He did do a a good job though overall and developed a lot of the players. He was probably what we needed at the time. Hopefully Maresca has taken us on another level. Tactically, you feel Marcesca is better.

Tactically, you feel Marcesca is better. I wanted to keep Poch but I was totally wrong and I will hold my hands up on that. Tactically Maresca is miles ahead of Poch, his ability to adjust to each game based on the opposition shows the gulf between him and Poch. As you say Poch is as what we needed at that time and now hopefully Maresca can take us to that next level.
December 8, 20241 yr I never wanted to keep Pochettino, but I never wanted Maresca to replace him. Leicester fans made him out to be a coach similar to Sarri, who had us play some of the most boring football on the planet. I thought it was an up and down start, but we have really kicked on in recent weeks. We've gone up many levels, even if it still drives me mad watching us try and play out of the back.
December 8, 20241 yr Poch did an important job in some of the basics - work rate, being unselfish, fine tuning. All important stuff. However he always looked uncomfortable being Chelsea manager. Never engaged too much with the fans - I think because of the spurs connection.

He deserves some credit for bringing back a good atmosphere into the camp but tactically he was utterly woeful. Yesterday's man doesn't even begin to cover it.
December 8, 20241 yr Porch did a decent job considering where he started and the worst injury crisis for years. I don’t think he ,even once, had his first 11 on the park and this made developing a style of play difficult. Having said that Maresca has come in and let every single player know exactly where they stand and quickly identified his initial first 11. We have a definite style of playing now and improvement is there to see. Maresca has the fans onside whereas Poch never did.
December 8, 20241 yr I'm probably the only one who is not totally won over yet. He is blessed in that our horror injury lists of the last 3 seasons is not something he has had to contend with. Even losing Palmer for a couple of months would, I think, be a severe test of his management and tactical skills. Making players like Sanchez and Jackson "untouchables" and completely free of any criticism from him is a mistake IMO. As is ignoring talents like N'kunku and Carney. And moving Caicedo away from a dominant midfield position is a mistake whatever the lineup. But no manager is ever perfect.

He laid some of the foundations that we're seeing today and our form in the second half of last season was improving. Maresca's done a very good job to build on from that and take us to the next level. His game in management is outstanding.
December 8, 20241 yr Poch deserves immense credit for one thing and that is fixing our attack and teaching us to score goals again. I still think it is the hardest problem in football to fix, you can make most any side defensively stronger with sheer effort but actually coaching a side to take risks and re-learn how to attack is as much more complex task. It has meant that we are never truly out of any game, and that was a problem we saw repeatedly under Tuchel and Potter where we would batter teams with half-chances and no conviction. Maresca has, to his credit, built on that and taken it to an even higher level.
