I thought Gusto was poor last season. He hasn't been the same player since Poch left.

I have never rated him but he has certainly got worse under Maresca

Honestly the longer Maresca stays here the better Poch looks.

I absolutely hated Poch and couldn’t wait to see the back of him, but he managed to get the best out of players like Palmer and Gusto.

What players has Maresca managed to improve? Shambolic.

You captured my thoughts exactly.

Sanchez is the only improved player under Maresca, I doubt he has little to do with the goalkeeping coaching team and he was so bad prior seasons the only direction he could go was to improve. Also think Maresca realized playing out from back all the time bc Pep does it ain’t such a good idea if you don’t have the players for it.

He’s a blagger basically bullsh*tted the ️ ignorant owners who binned Poch in favor of him. Problem is if and when he does go don’t expect the owners to make it right as they’ll hire the next chap who agrees with their folly of a project. No respite until they sell up and leave for billions in profit which sadly may not be in my lifetime. 1/2 century of going to the Bridge next year for me !

At this point I'd be expecting better from the coach. I think others may have been right in saying that he benefitted last season from the Conference league and the first half of the season being so good, and Palmer being on red hot form at the time. Since the latter half of last season we struggled to get over the line, but did so by the finest of margins. We lost games we absolutely should not have such as the Everton game, but especially Ipswich. It's carried over into this season in which I don't think I've seen us play a good game outside of Arsenal and Barcelona. Even the home game against a poor Liverpool team took us until extra time to beat them.

From the start of the season until now, I've been unimpressed with almost every game we've played so far, including the CL games. I don't understand the reasons for this, but whatever it is we shouldn't be struggling so much. Granted, the quality we have up top isn't amazing, but we still have good enough quality to be doing far better against teams like Sunderland and Brighton at home, Leeds, and a terrible Bournemouth at home. We are dropping points where we should absolutely not be. Not to mention struggling to defend, especially against long balls. This is a coaching issue, and it's an issue that is not being addressed.

Evidence of regression.

  • 2024/2025 (first 19 games) = 35 points (+15)

  • 2024/2025 (last 19 games) = 34 points (+6)

  • 2025/2026 (first 19 games) = 30 points (+11)

We would have to pick up 39 points from our last 19 games to even equal last season's tally and that only squeaked us into top 4. Seems highly unlikely. In fact, we are currently on track to pick up less points than we did under Poch.

A serious question

Is there anyone on here who thinks Maresca should not be sacked

I agree that that the SD’s are to blame with the players we are signing, but they are only following orders from above, sign no one over 24 and pay no one more then 150k a week

But im sure that a decent manager will get more out of the players just by playing them in their correct positions and allowing them to play attacking football, not worrying about giving the ball away by taking a chance

Let say we hire a magical manager that can add + 10 points which is a lot. We are on course for 60 points this season, but let's just use last season where we finished 69. 79 points will make us a top 4 team.

What makes you think we are on course to finish on 60 points though? based on our previous 19? What makes you think we're even capable of equalling that form at this point? I don't trust us to get 30 points in our next 19 games. We're a mess.

Also, you don't need a magical manager to squeeze an extra 10 points out of this team in the 2nd half of the season, just a good one.

Sorry but it does not take a miracle manager to add an extra 10 points to this season. 2 draws against Bournemouth, a draw to Brentford, a loss to Leeds, a loss to Sunderland, a loss to Brighton, a draw to palace and that doesn't even go into some of the sh*t cup and CL performances. Say what you want about the owners, the board or the squad, this squad we have is good enough to beat the teams I've mentioned. Could the squad be better and more balanced? Yeah, definitely, but these players should not be dropping points against the sh*t that we have dropped points against.

Maresca has to go, it's an absolute must because there's almost zero chance that we get champions league football with him in charge. This performance will happen again and again until we're mid table and this bald arrogant prick will try and excuse it with some bullsh*t fed to him by Jorge Mendes.

31 points after 19 matches .. this should lead to multiple heads rolling.. sporting directors Maresca and maybe a couple of players too..

He should be, but it is a waste of time to do so and think we will get where we want to be with this ownership just by sacking Maresca

Since BlueCo took over.

Especially if you look at the teams around us, Liverpool having a poor season, then there’s Villa and Man Utd… 100% we should be top 4 very comfortably.

If the owners really want to finish top 4 again this season, the only option is sack the manager.

Top 4 is long gone ….hope for 5th or 6th if we are mighty lucky… but even that will be a stretch.

Is a weird one him ducking the press. He seems to get off lightly from them.

The Bridge has been poor for years, long time since we made it an intimidating atmosphere.

I do think a lot of fans have given up on the club, maybe when this lot finally sells we maybe will get our souls back.

As it is the past 4 years have been just walking around as a hollow.

I tried for the first 2 years but now I mostly just skip the games. Is just sad watching the animated corpse of Chelsea Fc

I look at Arteta and no matter who is missing, they still seem to be really effective. They can even play a cm and rb and they dont look out of place. Maresca isn't getting the best out of this squad. Making it look like a glass half empty instead of half full.

Arsenal didn't sign any kids.

Why arse signed Eze n Gyokeres?

Why didn't they go for gittens or Delap?

I feel old can’t believe it’s already been 4 years since Roman lost the club.

The only manager that has offered any improvement vs the previous half season is Pochettino who did it in both the half seasons he managed us.

This is no surprise to me as of all the BlueCo hires he had the best track record in management by far. I think if we'd have kept him, and given him the handful of experienced players he wanted, he would have had us right up there challenging by now, plus it would have been great to watch. Eghbali, Stewart and Winstanley really f**ked up with that decision, amongst many others ...

The half glass metaphor is completely wrong when the f**king glass has been smahed ages ago and is merely awaiting being swept away while in the meantime everybody just keeps walking all over the shards.
