May 29, 20251 yr Currently at the level of a Carlton Cole, has the potential to become a Yakubu, Ameobi, Carroll level player, maybe even Heskey or Crouch. He would add to the squad but wouldnt turn us into title contenders. Need to go for Isak or similar if we are serious.

I'm not entirely sure of the negativity towards him, he's got everything we need in a striker.

May 29, 20251 yr In many ways this is a no-brainer as a deal. Even if he doesn't fit our system or he fails at Chelsea we will get all the transfer fee back selling him on. But if he is the guy who makes our attack better for UCL and the Prem I am not convinced at all. He doesn't bring experience or leadership to the squad. He might bring goals but it is pretty risky to trust this young and inexperienced player for that. But if he is the solution for our attack we are then continuing to bring in young potential instead of experience and more guaranteed results. If that is the idea I am fine with it. It means then the club is really going slowly and step by step.
May 29, 20251 yr £30m is a really good, low risk deal. I wonder what happens to Jackson now. Will we keep him, or sell to bring in someone to play ahead of Delap.
May 29, 20251 yr Tore us apart earlier on in the season, a proper old school number 9 completely different to what we have, whether or not He’s ready for the step up to a champions league side I’m not sure but for the price it’s no brainer.
May 29, 20251 yr I really like this signing but I hope that he’s not the only one we’re bringing in. I did like Jackson and thought he had undoubted potential but recently my patience has worn out completely. Starting next season with delap and Jackson and I worry that this time next year we’ll still be talking about a need for a striker

And we have a team of players who are experienced in winning things now. James, Enzo, Cucurella. Each won on the biggest stages. And then a collection of players who have just won a trophy and finished top 4 in the league. I'd like us to break the "age" barrier on a defender. But outside of that I think this model makes sense.
May 29, 20251 yr My feeling is that, if we don't snap him up now, we'll be kicking ourselves in a year or two. He's 22 and already shown he can perform in the PL and scored 12 goals for the worst team. I'd prefer that to another hyped player from the Bundesliga or wherever.
May 29, 20251 yr If we do end up only signing Delap, can we please please bring this guy back??I'd rather we go Delap/Giroud/Guiu than Delap/Jackson/Guiu for next season. Papa Giroud can teach them both so many things.
May 29, 20251 yr Delap is an instant upgrade over Jackson and the best available option after Gyokeres. Sesko/Osimhen/Ekiteke have too many red flags to warrant the fees/wages they’ll demand. Plus being PL proven Delap is already ahead of them IMO.Fantastic bit of business for the price and definitely takes us up to the next level.Absolutely buzzing about this.
May 29, 20251 yr I really like Delap and at £30m it’s low risk IMO.Another striker would be ideal though and then Jackson can be a squad player or even move to a left side forward.
May 29, 20251 yr Obce again Alex has done great analysis thread on Liam. Much more positive than the Ekitike one :
