Dont get me wrong, the owners and SD’s are a big part of the problem but the style of football was chronic to watch a lot of the time. I dont buy into this whole thing that he was forced to give certain players minutes to keep their value up. Surely winning trophies is more financially beneficial than selling players on. Could absolutely be wrong though and happy to be told so🙂👍

There is much to build on at Chelsea - some of the core players are exceptional (others need to improve, or move on). Hopefully the rot is just one limb, but agree with @Zeta that this group compounds every decision with something worse. Cautious right now.

Agreed. The decision has no bearing on the direction we are taking under Clearlake. If anything it will just allow them to install a manager that is more likely to go along with their project.

From a purely footballing/results standpoint I’d of given him more time.

In reality, there’s a lot more to it than that. Seems like his relationship with those above/around him was awful and he was looking elsewhere.

Not much point keeping him then although this is a recurring theme with this administration and their managers.

Club World Cup win was the worst possible outcome for us.

Gave him another season to waste Prime Reece James, Prime Cole Palmer and the Emerging Estevao.

Now in an uphill battle to secure CL football to ensure those players don’t leave.

Got to just pray his turgid anti football philosophy hasn’t seeped too deeply into the squad psyche.

I can't condone anything these owners do at this point in time.

Hence I abstain !

I would love to hear from @evissy and @Clown Lake today.

There is nothing about this ownership they can back. Backing them now is just Stockholm Syndrome at this point. They couldn't even fire Maresca properly, because the only way to remove Maresca was to remove the two twats first. They don't even have a coach at the club at senior level to take on City!

I think the CWC win was more of a bonus than anything. He had already achieved the targets of Champions League qualification and Conference League win. So, there was no way they were going to dismiss him in the summer even if we had failed to advance in CWC.

As I had written a few days ago, the situation with Maresca was clearly compromised.

Continuing until the end of the season with him would have been devastating for everyone.

So right the decision...but wrong not to already have a replacement up to the task, even if only for the next 6 months.

PS My two cents, I would try to take Farioli...yes another italian coach but no so italian.😇

Obviously I don't know if he's ready for Chelsea yet but he is young but already has good international experience and makes his teams play well.

Was horrendous at A**x.

It's already decided anyway. It's been done for a week. It'll be Rosenior, probably tomorrow. Season over, 1st January

I was never a supporter of Maresca and didn't think he was the right fit when he was first appointed. However, the issue around Maresca seems secondary now.

I'm more concerned about our owners and sporting directors and what they're doing to this football club.

You speak for most of us there Jezz.

Agreed, I feel like I've given the ownership a hell of a lot more leeway than a lot of people, but they've strayed from teething problems to they're running the club into the ground.
