June 23, 201511 yr Mandzukic has gone for £13m. Why haven't we gone for him instead of Falcao? He would have unsettled the team as he would have demanded a first team spot. Falcao is low risk.
June 23, 201511 yr ^ Won't Falcao upset Remy? We are rumoured to be paying him £130k/w (less than 5 players are on those wages), a few crap performances and players will be thinking "wait a min why is he getting paid all this money".
June 23, 201511 yr Mandzukic has gone for £13m. Why haven't we gone for him instead of Falcao? Because Mandzukic is finished as a top striker so is Falcao but at least Falcao is only a loan.
June 23, 201511 yr So wait, does this mean that Torres is now Atletico's main forward?! (Or has he now returned to AC Milan, I can't keep up with what was happening with that one).
June 23, 201511 yr Heard they are signing Jackson Martinez, Atletico that is. 29 year old Colombian strikers are all the rage this summer.
June 23, 201511 yr Just won a Premier League and League Cup double whilst already on the verge of breaking through to the first team. Zouma has already made plenty of appearances last season and with Terry possibly retiring in a few years. He would be absolutely mad to leave for Sampdoria

June 23, 201511 yr So wait, does this mean that Torres is now Atletico's main forward?! (Or has he now returned to AC Milan, I can't keep up with what was happening with that one). Supposedly they're in talks with Tevez, which would be a bit of a coup. Mandzukic has gone for £13m. Why haven't we gone for him instead of Falcao? I think we've missed a trick there to be honest, he'd be well-suited to the Premier League. I know I spent all last summer singing the praises of the new Super Mario so I won't harp on, but imagine a strike trio of Costa, Rémy and Mandzukic.
June 23, 201511 yr There will be a big signing i feel it. I hope you're right. Who knows, Griezmanns still available.
June 23, 201511 yr Bit gutted we didn't go for firmino tbh. I think he would offer something a little different to the current attackers.
June 24, 201511 yr Bit gutted we didn't go for firmino tbh. I think he would offer something a little different to the current attackers. I haven't watched a lot of him, so could you tell me what this would be? Just from looking at his stats - a crude method to judge players, but it's all I have (because Youtube clips are even less reliable) - do we really need another attacking midfielder who doesn't score a lot? This from WhoScored: Roberto Firmino had 7 goals from 95 shots, giving him a worse conversion rate (7.4%) than any other player with 5+ goals in the Bundesliga last season. Wouldn't he just end up being another expensive (29m) squad option? His best position appears to be no. 10 and we already have Oscar there, and if/when Oscar goes into his midseason rut, we'll have Willian and Hazard who are more than adequate in that position. He's probably a good signing for Liverpool because of the paucity of their options in the market, but surely we can do better. The last thing we need is to take another expensive risk on an unproven player. We have enough of those now.
June 24, 201511 yr turan anyone? The Turkey international, 28, has two years left on his contract with Madrid - is he on his way to the Premier League? "His intention is to leave Spain this summer," Turan's agent Ahmet Bulut told Spanish sports newspaper AS. "His will is to leave and to play in the Premier League, that is the path he would like to take to continue his career.

The last thing we need is to take another expensive risk on an unproven player. We have enough of those now. The season before last he scored 22 goals and made 16 assists in 37 games, admittedly he didn't produce the numbers quite as well last season, but I think part of that was down a stagnation causes by staying at hoffenheim for a season too long. In terms of style I'd say he is more of a second striker than a traditional winger or attacking midfielder, something we don't currently have in the squad. He can play centre forward, in the 10, or out wide. I wouldnt say is his defensive contribution is any worse than Willians before we signed him. He's unpredictable, has bag full of tricks and has good end product. I think it's a really good signing for Liverpool and even if I'm disappointed he didn't end up here, I'm quite excited about seeing him in the prem next year where I think him and coutinho could be a lot of fun to watch. Liverpool are also after kovacic as well who is another player I like the look of. Very much in the mould of his compatriot modric. Both signings would surely mean sterling is allowed to leave as they are looking bloated in midfield. Ultimately Liverpools title challenge will come down to 2 things, keeping Sturridge fit, and fixing their defense. Personally I can't see either of those things happening.
June 25, 201511 yr Douglas Costa off to Ac Milan Witsel off to Ac Milan Imbula off to Inter Looks like we're being used to push through deals for other clubs again!!
June 25, 201511 yr Whilst I rate Athletico very highly, can we please look at other teams as well instead of signing their entire team?
June 25, 201511 yr Whilst I rate Athletico very highly, can we please look at other teams as well instead of signing their entire team? Well to be fair we have only signed 2 of their players.
June 25, 201511 yr Wow, I was in shock when I saw that Bayern agreed to pay 35m to sign Douglas Costa. Two options only: 1) We've lost a great player that would improve our attack. 2) Bayern bought a huge flop. I personally will go with option 1.

Just because it's Bayern Munich it doesn't mean they will always get their signings right. Douglas Costa isn't anything special. If he was then he wouldn't have been playing in Ukraine for so long. I'm happy we ain't wasting our money on another average footballer.

I agree with you, but I can see that he plays much better when players in good level around him , for example in Brazil. Maybe 35m is too much for him, but he might surprise everyone.
June 25, 201511 yr Simeone is the closest thing to Jose in terms of coaching style IMO so it is only fitting we raid their squad. The players are already ready to play for Jose.
