I had him score 20+ goals at the start of the season, look like he barely meets my low expectation ( unless something magical happens in the next 5 games). I reckon he will still be here next season, doubt the club would put him in the new kit ad if he won't be here.

He was good tonight - but if I see him starting ahead of Ba in the League FSW should hang himself

Spot on and my fear as well. If he starts against United or Spurs it will prove beyond any further doubt that Benitez couldn't give a toss about a top four finish.

As for Swiss Basil, on a par with Reading I'd say.

I would start Ba in the next two games against United and Spurs but I would give Torres 20-30 minutes at least in the game against Villa to make sure he has some playing time between now and the final.

Being our only recognised forward in Europe we actually can't risk him getting injured as well.

It doesn't work like that in football though. Yes ba should start the next game but if he is a having a stinker against united then he needs to be replaced. And if torres comes on and does well then why shouldn't he get a start against spurs? We can't be picking players on the amount of minutes they need it should be picked on form and performance. Torres should not of started against liverpool and he should of been replaced after about 50 minutes in that game because he just didn't look up for it!

Ba has been our better forward since we signed him.

What I am suggesting is that as our most inform striker he needs to play in the remaining fixtures.

However, seeing as he is cup tied for the European Final I think we need to make sure Torres gets some playing time in the Villa game.

Also, Ba has tormented United a couple times in the past, Ferdinand especially won't be looking forward to playing against him again.

I spoke to my brother last night just before half time and he was doing his pieces about how crap Torres is - not like my bro to be digging out Torres like that, he usually leaves it to me.  He was right in everything he said; half hearted, shuts players down by jogging sideways into the space nowhere near the player on the ball, fairy jumps under any long balls that are played forward - on the very rare attempt he won a header he looked at his teammate as if to ask why they hadn't gambled on him winning it, running with the ball is hopeless, runs off the ball are slow and lack purpose, and that stupid fukin mask surely he doesn't still need to wear it and we still know who it is.

Then he scored and actually started putting a bit of effort in, running with purpose.  Still hopeless with the ball at his feet mind.

I so badly want Torres to do well.  If he is here next season I won't complain, provided Ba is starting more and a Falcao/Lewandowski type player comes in.

He is possibly the most frustrating player for me that has ever played for Chelsea (there have been a few).  As someone mentioned above, he is incapable of winning headers, however when he does bother to jump more than 2 inches in the air and win the ball it is effective.  I think he has bulked up a bit of late which is a good thing, but he does not bully defences anywhere near enough.

Loses the ball too often, runs when he should pass, passes when he should shoot, never in right position, always seems lacklustre and like he has given up on life in general.  So Frustrating!!

I do like his mask though.

Bang on the money. His goal "masked" another abject performance, and how anyone can say differently evades me. Still, it was a Thursday night so he was bound to score.

I know one thing, he won't get a game under Mourinho and Torres knows it, hence the fact he appeared to be a trying a little bit harder. I was at the game last night and rather than slagging him as your brother was doing, everyone around me was just laughing at how inept he is, a kind of resigned laughter, except for one old blighter behind me who was incandescent with rage.

People will say 20 goals is a good return and they're right, until you see which games they were in. He's got great players around him and they're crying out for a centre-forward of quality because we have the potential to explode as an attacking force.

To those of you who have been offering excuses for the last 2.5 years and blaming everyone but him, I would say enjoy the last few weeks of this season, because it's the last you're going to see of your poster boy in a blue shirt.

And yes I do mean you Bluehatter. Sorry to disappoint you but he's toast. He ain't even going to get a training session under Jose.

Oh would you look at that. A post from davey baby that we haven't seen a thousand times before. Oh wait yes we have........

I actually look forward to seeing how jose deals with torres if he comes in. I suspect you may be right in that he gets rid but if on the off chance he doesn't then it will be interesting.

Davey, no one is arguing that he will gone, that he has been a poor signing etc. If he plays well then some people will say so, some people simply can't bring themselves to give him even the smallest praise and simply say he was sh*te all game. It's quite sad that if anyone dares say he did well they are instantly slammed as Torres lovers or fan boys or some other pathetic crap.

but.. he didnt play well last night

he may have broken his "how many times can i fall over in one game?" record though

Have you still not grasped the difference between a fact and opinion? Your entitled to believe he didn't play well but others like me are also entitled to thinking he played pretty well. Stop shooting people down for not sharing your opinion!

Sort of neutral view: I thought he posed a real threat. When he's in the area, he pulls defences out of shape and creates space other Chels players.

The fifty million label is an albatross around his neck and, imo, skews the discussion of his abilities/form. He's definately improving and his growing confidence is clear to see.

His past record is clear (pre Chels): worth keeping, I reckon.

youre also entitled to believe torres was better than any game messi has ever played last night... point is some opinions clearly hold more weight than others since people can be more educated in certain topics. not hard to grasp

i remember a lot of folks were pining for the guy to stay last season even though he had been proven an utter failure. "another season" they said, "he's got the players behind him now" they said. well, one season on with the lad given free reign at the helm and still producing jack to the massive detriment of our teams achievements (and no doubt being a helping factor toward a certain manager), and actually being outshone by the newly appointed january signing, some people have finally cottoned on and thought "hmm... maybe that YEAR AND A HALF period where he was one of the worst strikers in the world wasn't just a lapse in form..." (some people are still in denail over his lack of ability, which is beyond ludicrous)

basically, show why your opinion should be taken seriously and maybe then will it actually hold any weight in discussions. cheers!
