7th best? I honestly thought he'd be higher than that, who's above him?

Ronaldo, Messi... Rooney? Probably some PSG/Anzi players I guess

Eto'o is the highest paid player in Europe apparently. I'm guessing it's Eto'o, Ronaldo, Messi, Van Persie, Ibrahimovic and Tevez are all above him. This is presuming he's the 7th highest paid player.

Didnt Messi just sign a new contract paying him a butt load of money? Not sure what he is one but he must be one of the top two best paid now?

Surely a fair few Man City players would featute too, when they first got money (but still sh*t and not in the Champions League) they were paying some ridiculous wages.

Would be interested to know what wages Toure, Tevez, Aguero, Kompany, Nasri are all on.

torres chance the other night was no snap shot, the keeper wasnt in his face, and just like he did against corinthians, he smashed it straight at the keeper.

any striker at any level, would be disappointed not to stick either of those 2 sitters away. There the sort of chances that would keep me awake at night!

Since I'm from germany I have no live experience with the PL. How are the fans in the stadium about whistling / booing down their own players they don't like? Does that happen a lot or barely ever?

Cheers!

What is said here in this forum should stay here, once on the pitch no matter how bad the lad is we support them. Wear the Blue ,support the Blue!

Agreed - to blast them at the keeper under no pressure is NOT something you'd expect from a top striker

Saying that, I don't think not scoring is the reason people are getting on his back - it's the fact he looks so disinterested. He went through very long periods without scoring and still the fans got behind him, because he was working his socks off at times, but not now.

I was disappointed he blasted it at the keeper, but I was actually quite angry when he just stood still and refused to attack a great ball into the box... playing like that, how many Premier League teams would he get into the starting line up of? Even with his reputation I'd say pretty close to none.

Hmmm I thought Torres was awful in this game but to be honest I don't agree with this.

He had a split second to pull the trigger and Julio Ceaser was no more than a few yards away from him smothering any shot.

I haven't seen a replay (I sit behind that goal) so perhaps I should have another look but from my memory of it in 'real time' he did what most would do in that situation which was smash a shot on target before the chance has gone.

Like I say I haven't seen a replay so if someone uploads a video I will have another look.

No excuses as far as im concerned. It was a bad miss and not a good save. He shouldve scored,  but i wasnt surprised he didnt. Not one bit.

I agree you want your strikers to be converting chances like these however I didn't think it was a bad miss.

The Moses chance from about a yard in front of goal when Marin had squared it for him was certainly more of a sitter.

Id agree with that about Moses. But you expect a striker at any level to do more than hit and hope from 6 yards out, which is what Torres did.

Torres just smacks it in the vague direction of the goal and hopes for the best. A shot born of panic. There was plenty of space to the keeper's right, all he had to do was aim to the bottom left and it was in, but he choked yet again when we needed him to come up with the goods.

True.

I think if it was a 'one off' then he might be cut more slack with it as I didn't personally think it was that bad but unfortunately it is one of many, many costly misses on his part so it's natural that people are exhausted with him.

Please end the Groundhog Day,

Torres is THE most highest priced player in the history of the FA and he isn't worth mentioning, unfortunately someone that works for CFC thought he was, whoever that was is a disgrace to CFC, Torres makes Shevchenko look like a reasonably priced CFC legend!

To anyone who missed the QPR game, he was absolutely invisible and lost the ball every time he got it and had one chance at the start and completely messed it up from right in front of the penalty spot.

thats exactly right mate, theres too many chances being squandered now, and it is starting to cost us. I played as a centre forward myself to quite a high level, and if it wasnt the norm id be defending a miss like that, but you have to be hoping a centre forward would show more composure than that.

if anyone is watching sky sports news, check out the goals from rvp, suarez, and even walcott. composed finishes putting the ball past the keeper.

really hope this ba transfer pays off, we are due a bit of luck in the centre forward position.

Ba's a quality finisher just look at sone if his goals this season, who was that one against that he hit on the volley in the box?

I think it was against Reading. Brilliant finish, so difficult to get right.

I'd love to know what Torres thinks of the purchase of Ba. And if he has been in to see Fatty and Roman asking for assurances he is still the no:1 choice.

Yaya Toure makes somewhere north of £200.000 per week, so he's certainly above Torres.

The QPR game was such a low point that I left the ground hoping someone would drop a hefty weight on Torres foot, at the training ground this week and keep him out of the side for the foreseeable future...I've really tried not to slag him off but how much longer is he going to get...?

I hate slagging off our players but after two years of Torres, surely RA must realise he's p*ssed 50 mill up the wall and its time to get rid. I don't know if Benitez is trying to get the best out of him in the hope of offloading him in the Transfer window, but if he is maybe he should stick a blonde wig on Demba Ba and try and pass him off as "Nando" in the hope of conning some other mug into buying him...
