There is part of me that is glad that this is all over - of course we don't know the details of the loan, but I hope we're not paying a large part of his wages while he is gone.

 

Then there is a part of me that laments the player coming to Chelsea in the first place.  He didn't pick the price tag, and any player with that money flown in their face was always going to hop at the chance.  He just never really lived up to the hype surrounding, rightly or wrongly, his price tag.  Nando never really looked overly confident during his whole time here, and I think part of him looked to have a feeling of "this is as good as it'll ever be," so no wonder he didn't want to leave.

 

He was a great stried in his day, but he was a shadow of that player when we signed him.  Whomever signed him really does need their head checked, and hopefully can learn from this and avoid the same mistakes again (even if that person is Roman).

 

He goes with my well wishes, and not a single hard feeling.  It was always a bit of a circus, was it not?

    I'm glad he didn't just see out his contract, gradually losing all respect. 

     

    He was a poor, poor striker for us but I do believe he always tried his hardest and it just wasn't meant to be. He delivered some important goals and shared in big European success. 

     

    I for one, wish him all the best.

    A bit more info regarding this deal. Apparently Torres hasn't taken a penny as severance pay and the Milan haven't paid a fee. The two year loan was designed to allow us to 'carry' the £18m left in Fernando's transfer fee over the next two years rather than declare the full figure now. This is handy from an FFP perspective.

    'have a word. "Did so much harm" ; he wasn't a fecking serial killer. He didn't live up to the hype, was never truly confident and succumbed to the pressure of his ludicrous price-tag.

    Never wanted a player to do well for us more than Torres. All those little patches of form he hit for 2/3 games made the 15 game scoreless runs right afterwards all the more painful. It was never going to work for him at Chels though. Relieved he's gone, as long as we get somebody in before the window closes. Have a feeling it'll be a certain lesbian lookalike from Man Utd...

    Shame it didn't work out for him here, he was given all the support in the world from our fans he just never cut it for us, saying that glad he's gone, both the club and the player can move on from this now. Good luck to him. UTC.
