I'm not sure I understand what's happening here? Our squad is woefully thin and we keep shedding players.

It was too thin last season without European football never mind now.

I know Baka is on his way but even at that we now require another few midfielders.

Maybe Baker is set to stay which would bring our number to five which is enough for two positions.

Nope.

We need quality not a untested youth player. We are fighting on multiple fronts so that simply won't end well.

We can't be losing guys we actually gave big game time to just to earn 5 million and lose depth, that's stupid,

We must be bringing in more players, otherwise this looks foolish.

Thanks Chalo, good luck at Watford, it's a real shame he's leaving. We're in trouble now, in terms of squad depth, going to be a repeat of 15/16 if we're not careful.

That is assuming Christensen doesn't want to leave because he won't be guaranteed first team football, and Baker isn't sold. Unless I'm forgetting someone.

Always sad to see a home grown go,but with chalouba you know, if he does go on to be a real player, he would jump at the chance to come home, yes it will cost us a prettt penny, but this is his chance to prove he was right and we were wrong

I don't see what we're doing here. Is 5m or whatever low figure worth it right now? I know he didn't want to sign a new contract but maybe his mind changes after a few months and sone game time? 

I guess Conte didn't think he could use him so time to cut the cord. I don't think he'll be good enough to start for us on a regular basis but we're thin at CM, he's homegrown and he's capable at 3 positions in the center. 

Even Batshuayi is acting sad on twitter, saying that people confusing them for too long caused this.

Also, the official twitter statement from the club isn't going down too well.  I believe you'd say they are being dragged right now

Watford have robbed us, may as well given him to them for free. I can't blame Chalo for wanting game time, just a shame we couldn't persuade him to stay, this transfer window has been a joke so far.

Earlier reports suggested his current contract had a 6m release clause, so unlikely the club ever wanted to sell him—hence the last minute 60k/wk contract offer.

Conte obviously couldn't promise him enough game time. It's a disaster. He'll long have a place in my heart for the shove on Aguero after the lunge on Luiz. Seemed like a big part of the dressing room too, front and centre of our new kit ads too.

We've let Solanke, RLC, Abraham, Aina, Ake, Traore and Chalobah all leave the club on loan or permanently this summer. That's easily 80% of our current top prospects away from the club and over half for good. 

Assuming Matic leaves, as he's been training alone and MVG goes to PSV, we literally have no DM cover now. 

 

No buy back clause is a real shame. I think he could have made it here and offered so good displays last season. 

Poor Kante and Fabregas will have to play alot of games now, with Bakayoko injured until September and Matic possibly sold. We defenatly need more central midfielders, 3-5-2 needs to be an option as well.

will eat my hat if baker is not loaned out. Admittedly; chalobah and rlc rarely impressed me, tbh. 

 

Doesn't help people like  chelseayouth, joe tweeds, garry hayes on twitter criminally overrate the kids.  

 

We're desperately short though . Need a lwb, cm, striker or 2.

Rubbish, he is 22, and he has yet to show anything significant. He is massively overrated because he is from the academy.

I'm really disappointed in all honesty. Aina, Loftus-Cheek, Ake, Chalobah, every single one of our academy players from last season are now gone. For a team that just won the league, we seem to want to make an awful lot of changes. I know these players were fringe players but i was hoping that at least Chalobah would stick around.

Our strategy is really risky too. I said it in the in's and out's thread, our squad is way too thin to be shipping out so many players. Ok, we may have some deals lined up, but get them done before shipping so many out. 9 of our players from last season's squad have been sold or loaned out. I'm also expecting Costa to be sold to so that will be 10 players out from our league winning squad.

Our HG numbers have taken another hit too. It look's like we will be promoting a lot of players from the youth just to fill out the numbers this season. A risky strategy that could come back to haunt us if we get injuries in key area's.

I disagree. Out of all of the players from our academy that got a shot last season, he was the one i rated the highest. There were many times throughout last season where i thought he could have done a better job than Matic. I think it's a bit of waste in all honesty.
