January 22, 20179 yr Just a thought, what a great servant Gary cahill has been actually. Bought as cover, and thought of as cover for most of his time here. Solid defender, and always pops up with vital goals. Champions league winner and was injured in the build up to the final. Cult hero, or club legend. Gary cahill I salute you!
January 22, 20179 yr Cahill needs someone decent along side him there is no doubt about that. Is it coincidence that and incredible defensive duo against all the odds in Munich is now doing it again week in week out ? You listen to most the experts on this forum wouldn't have had Cahill and Luiz in the club ! Gary is a great defender and has a goal in him too which is always a bonus and he is putting a good captains role this season, speaks well on the tele etc. Let's hope they keep JT at the club to keep mentoring him. Just on a personal note my nephew had a bad head injury a few years back in Australia a few people on this site genriously helped out, I will be forever grateful. Gary also dug deep as well as giving as one of his shirts signed by the first team to auction. He even took the time to follow up with us a few times over the past few years to see how my nephew was doing. You don't hear these things in the media do you ? I am sure there are a lot of professionals out there that do this type of thing but Gary will always be a legend in my family
January 23, 20179 yr Unfortunate accident yesterday, I'm glad to hear Ryan Mason is better, apparently Gary went to visit him in hospital, I imagine he must of been very worried. Shame the sick community on twitter chose to accuse him of dangerous play etc...even a couple of our own ‘fans’, but then again, Twitter is a cesspit of sh*t, where retards all come together.
January 23, 20179 yr Shame about Mason and no doubt Gary is feeling awful about it. Just one of those unfortunate freak accidents, could easily have been Gaz on the wrong side of that challenge. The bravery he shows to get to a ball is second to none. Cahill and Luiz bossing the EPL....who'd a thunk it!

March 14, 20179 yr What do people think will happen to Cahill next season with two young players pushing for a start in Ake and Christenson. There's also Zouma and Dave can play anywhere. Hopefully we can finish the league early and Ake gets a few starts. For me Cahill has played well since his early season hiccup but he can look out of place of the left side of a back 3. I do like a natural left footed player. On the ball his also not great.

Obviously I am a bit biased See my earlier post in this thread.... But Gary has wonderful experience under his belt now and clearly will pick up the club captaincy off of JT, and that is high praise indeed and and rightly deserved, a veteran now of the CL and EPL. Like all defenders he has a mistake in him as does Luiz and you could argue that it is Kante making them both look good, but he is a model professional and England regular. I would give him another two years at the top, mentoring the younger defenders, maybe the second of those seasons play a lesser role. CL next season we will need that wise head.
March 14, 20179 yr Gary is still suspect last night was a perfect example united let him have the ball because Jose knows hes not that great. i love his commitment but somes when hes on the ball he looks lost like he has no clue what to do
March 14, 20179 yr well somebody is going to have to make way, as christensen and/or any other defender we sign isn't going to sit on the bench behind cahill. his pace is an issue and so is his decision making on the ball. we need a cb who will drive forward with the ball instead of standing still and passing left, right or backwards. too many below par games from him, and he puts us in dangerous situations more than necessary.
March 14, 20179 yr I think he will be phased out as Christensen and Zouma come more into the fray. He's been a solid player and the heart of some great trophy wins, but he has never been top quality, like the likes of JT, Carvalho, Gallas, etc... were, and I think we can improve. Although there are other positions I would look at first.
March 14, 20179 yr I find it hard to believe that a lot of people on here think Christensen is in with a chance of getting regular first-team football. All this talk of Conte blooding youth is nonsense; when it's clear Cahill isn't up to the task anymore we will just buy another world-class defender. Christensen will be sold.

How do you know he isn't though? We could have sold him twice now but have chosen not too that alone tells you we might have plans for him. Conte will have his own views but if Christensen comes in pre season does well like say Moses done then why is it hard to think he wont get a chance here? If we already have good players to come in then the money can be spent elsewhere like the midfield which would be the ideal scenario for me. A world class midfielder beside Kante and we would be right up there with the best IMO.

March 14, 20179 yr So many times last night he was on the ball, invited a tackle from Rashford, and lost the ball in our area. It was frustrating to watch. I think defensively he's sturdy enough, but with the ball at his feet I hold my breath.

March 14, 20179 yr The reason I mentioned Cahill was I saw quite abit of moaning about him last night, also on another website saying Cahill looks aqward on the left hand side which I do agree with. Chelsea have an abundance of talent in defence. What the other top teams would do for some of them players. If we let Christenson and Ake go without having a fair chance we could regret it in the future. Luiz and Dave already have the experience at the back.
March 14, 20179 yr Does anyone know the reason why Dave plays on the right and Cahill on the left? Dave looks a lot more comfortable than Cahill playing on the left hand side.
