Apparently he's been in hospital for the past two days with an "unspecified illness". I guess he'll be missing the Tottenham game... f**k!

Another illness. Have they been serving up deep fried salmonella at Cobham or what?

His defending might be iffy at times but his threat and tendency to score vital goals is a joy to watch.

I know he got pelted in the match thread for the 2 goals

Actually his defending is rarely iffy IMO. It's his limitations with the ball at his feet. But in the oppo's box he is a real threat and generally a pretty cool finisher.

Just read that Gary Cahill's goal tonight makes him the second highest scoring defender in EPL history only behind...... John Terry.

Our Captain....... Gary Cagoals.

I think he's 5th on the list. He's 2nd if you take away the defenders that have scored penalties.

8 goals from defence and without them we'd probably be second in the league. The winner against Stoke and the Southampton goal, just before half time, it changed the game and he nearly got his head kicked off in the process, vital goals.

We all know he has a mistake in him, but he's been a great leader this season and he always atones for any error, easily one of our best players this season. The comments from our own ‘fans’ about him on social media are ridiculous, people seem to have a grudge against him, though they're happy to celebrate his goals. It's a shame how many spoilt, ungrateful people have jumped on our bandwagon, get off and follow another club, the man has given his all this season.

Thought Gary had a wonderful game today, really kept us in it for the final & saved us from being battered even worse. His blocking/reading is vastly underrated I think

he played well, 2 ashley Cole like clearances off the line, I thought he could've done better for the second goal though, shouldn't have let giroud get that cross in.

I know Cahill was making goal line clearances but the way Arsenal was getting through the Chelsea defence was stupid. Really you don't want to be put in the situation of having to make to many goal line clearances in the first place. Ozils was on his side of the pitch.

Got hammered by Chelsea ‘fans’ on Twitter, for being done by Pogba. I don't know why players use social media, if I was a player I wouldn't bother, 90% of fans that use it are plastic as fu*k.

They were all probably United fans a few years back, they should all just go back and dab to Pogba's "amazing" performances.

Stoke ‘legend’ Mike Pejic sticking the boot in as well, to Gaz and Luiz. I wasn't aware Stoke had many legends and I've no idea who this f**king clown is, he achieved nothing in his career.

"The one big positive for us was the re-appearance of Jack Butland for his country after more than a year away through injury. But I felt sorry for him after he came on for the second half of that 3-2 defeat (against 10 men!) in Paris on Tuesday evening. I felt sorry for him having to play behind a player like Gary Cahill, one of the worst defenders I've seen in one-v-one situations. He gets so easily exposed and it was him, as much as David Luiz, who needed the protection of a three-man defence in that Chelsea rearguard last season. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte deserves a medal - possibly Cahill's title-winning medal - for spotting so quickly that Luiz AND Cahill needed such protection."

Sounds fair enough to me, sorry to play devil's advocate but I think he's spot on re Cahill.

‘one of the worst defenders in one on one situations’, ‘Conte deserves Cahill's medal’, nonsense. Gaz might not be the best in those situations, maybe a weak aspect of his game, not one of the worst though. Gary Cahill does not deserve a winners medal, is basiclly what this idiot said, you think that's spot on? I'm generally just tired of people sticking the boot in to Cahill and this nobody, who achieved absolutely nothing is taking jabs now, it's boring.

I didn't agree that Cahill doesn't deserve a winners medal, but I do agree about Cahill's ability 1v1...
