Think CPO members have always been happy with a move.

Just not a move to "somewhere". Which could have meant Reading, or Stratford. 

If the move was to a fixed specific location like Battersea or earls court, then it wouldn't have been an issue all those years ago. 

As much as I love the idea of a new stadium, look what it’s done to Arsenal and what it’s doing to Tottenham currently. 

Ticket prices increase, less signings for the team, the team struggles to finish top 4. Seems to do a lot of damage. 

A spurs fan I know had to pay extra 250 quid for his season ticket last season, which is disgusting.

I think it’s very likely it’ll happen to us too should we go ahead with the stadium plans.

How about digging down and also knocking down the shedend and building behind it? Maybe not enough to hit the 60'000 capacity but might be enough to get to 55'000, which would be good enough for us.

We should think big - RA won´t live forever. If we move to Earls Court, Battersea or wheresoever, we should get an at least 50% bigger stadium. Ideal would be around 70k with no incease of ticket prices.

Both of those options have gone because alternative developments have already begun. If we move it would probably be miles away because plots of the size needed for a large stadium hardly ever become available in central London. Battersea and Earls Court were one offs.

I can't see any alternative to the current plan. If the Government give Roman his visa I'm hoping he'll proceed. If they don't I think he could make a profit by selling the club. If an Arab consortium came in with big bucks we could kick on.

Hate the thought of RA leaving, but there would be a queue of buyers for Chelsea FC.  One of the most well known names in football and in probably the most desirable area on the planet. But and this is a very big but, we would not get a new owner / owners who would have a fraction of Romans passion, commitment and pure love of football and his club CHELSEA FC.

Kind of jealous seeing Spurs getting a new stadium. All of our rivals have bigger capacities right now. 

If we do not proceed with the stadium development plan then we should at least try to improve the atmosphere inside our current ground. Crystal Palace manage to be loud as hell its always fun when we play them away. Wish we could produce that level  of vibrancy.

They’ve got an entirely different fan base to us. No yuppies or day tripping Johnny Foreigners. 

Posh people don’t sing because they get embarrassed and day trippers don’t know the words.

Bournemouth turnover a year ago was 150m euros. They made 5,8m euros with ticketsales. Their stadiumcapacity is 11k. This kind of stat tells you maybe a bigger stadium isn't the way to grow... 

TV makes the most money to clubs these days. Maybe we should try and play entertaining football instead...?

TV money in England is split evenly so Man City and Bournemouth get the same money regardless of the style of football they play. An improved stadium is the only way to remain in touch with the rest of the top 6. As it stands we've got easily the smallest ground in the top 6. 

Spurs are having a bit of a PR nightmare with the delay of their new stadium but in a few weeks time they'll have over 60k at the stadium, Arsenal have fully paid off the stadium and their financial constraints should in theory be lifted but their owner is a tight arse so they'll penny pinch awhile yet. Theres never been a better time to build a stadium than right now, given the increased revenue from sponsors and TV money, clubs will be able to compete and pay off a stadium if needs be.

I think Chelsea or Roman, stalling over this new build is a bit of a cop out, yes nobody wants to go to Wembley for 3 years but having a near 42k capacity Bridge , the 7th biggest in the PL, 9th biggest in England behind Villa and Sunderland is also a blow for Chelsea. We dont need a 60k toilet bowl miles from SW6 but we do have to start something or 10 years down the line we'll be left behind as Everton could be building a new stadium and City are increasing the Emptyhad nearly every year it seems, god knows why though.

I think this is why the club are trying to secure lucrative deals in China and other countries around the world. It helps grow a brand to the next level and financially it's supremely beneficial in the long run.

Yeah, but their stadium is honestly unnecessary. They have won f**k all for god knows how long and they're not a globally big club. It makes no sense to spend so much on a new stadium. Second of all, they aren't located in Fulham, which is a very difficult area for us to build a new stadium. If we can find a new location, it would be great. However, there's very few, if any, out there. Where we are located now seems the best choice, but we are also limited to building space. It's a double edged sword for us unfortunately. 

It’s been suggested several times but keep the East and West Stands, and build some .... off new ends ( the new ends can be built one at a time)

That should get us in the low 50,000 range with increased corporate capacity, because that’s where the dough is.

This stat and comments like ManU owners saying they actually don't need a competitive team to make their financial marks tells you why we are not jumping to build a new stadium. 

I know in the long run a sexy stadium is an addition to our brand but we don't really need to do that.

Let's be realistic and honest on this. We are a big club but Utd are a top 3 in the world mega club! We should not be comparing us with them!

Makes so much sense! The east stand is 40+ years old and architecture has moved on a ton since then, so maybe even that could be redeveloped too add a few more thousand?

We're catching them. They still top the global shirt sales (as of 2017) with 2.85m, but we're in 4th with 1.65. No question about it, Chelsea have come a very long way on and off the pitch over the last 25 years! But UTD are and probably always will be on another level to us in terms of size T

hey are just one big cashcow that can almost sit back and watch the money roll in.  They could spend the next 10 years in mid table wasteland and they'd still get 75,000 every game and still be a mega club worldwide. Same elsewhere where Barca and RM will always be the mega clubs in Spain like Bayern Munich will be in Germany.

Not sure I buy that remembering in the early 90's when Fergie's new job was under threat and they lost to a Gareth Hall strike. They did not fill their allocation.

I would say three consecutive years out of the top 4 with no silverware and they would take a hit even more if Liverpool do well at the same time, Asians have a thing with the colour red.

The away terrace used to hold 11,700 in the late 80s, not many occasions was it full. Especially after we were no longer allowed in there officially!!

The state football is in at the moment, even if we didn’t sell any tickets we’d still be in profit thanks to TV deals. So I don’t see what the rush is for a new stadium.

Weird to mention Bournemouth who are a completely different club.

United and arsenal make about 40-60m more than us from matchday revenue a year. 

That's the comparison. That's why we need a bigger stadium.

I'd agree with this to a point, but keep the MH and West Stands and build similar at the Shed end and East, that would bring our capacity very close to 50k.

Good point, but I think we already do have a sexy stadium. As my User ID suggests I come from an era when SB looked very different than it does today, but 1978 or 2018, I still get the same buzz in my gut as I round the corner, where the club shop used to be and see the stadium in front of me. And to be honest an extra 18k seats isn't going to make me feel any different. I think she looks pretty sexy just the way she is.
