We shold have a re think. Knock down the shed and hotels and build a huge single teir stand. Get the proper shed back. 45 to 50 would be plenty. Just my opinion It's what I was thinking. It's impressive that Spurs can fill a stadium midweek with close to 60k fans. Meanwhile we struggle to get 40k. We are located in arguably the most difficult area of London for building a new stadium. It is either build on the land that's available or find an area further afield but still close enough not to lose our identity too much.
April 5, 20197 yr Tottenham's new stadium does look nice inside, but the exterior looks like any other newly built stadium. It's a real shame we never built on the battersea site as that would have been unique. I hope Roman can come up with plans on a new stadium. Edited April 5, 20197 yr by enigma

It's a new stadium, everyone wanted to be there. Brighton was the first time in years we've not sold out. I'd wager it's our lowest attendance in 5 years, lower than when we had 10 days to sell tickets for Chelsea Vs Bristol rovers. For the past few years we are the only London club that sell out all their European nights and league cup games. Arsenal and Tottenham don't come close. Tottenham won't sell out that stadium for midweek games in 2-3 year's time when the novelty goes. The issue for us is fatigue, our team isn't that enjoyable to watch and almost every home game this side of Feb is a night game. (9 of our last 11 games will be midweek). If we moved into a new stadium, our Saturday and Sunday games would sell out 60k. No doubt. Wednesdays we might struggle to get above 40k. But that's still worth the move.
April 5, 20197 yr A work mate went to the first game at the new Spurs stadium and apparently they are calling their new end "The White Wall". I seem to remember hearing that somewhere else.

It's the main reason why we need to avoid EL football next season, it's the tournament i have a love hate relationship with, it's brilliant when you win it, but if you don't, it's just been a waste of 9 months. Saturday games, we could sell double the seats every weekend, it's just so much easier for nearly everyone, easier to travel into SW3, cheaper on the trains, most people are off work the next day, it ticks all the boxes. Sundays/Mondays and Thursdays, it's a different story. We would struggle to fill 60k on those days.
April 6, 20197 yr Le Arse' and Spudz may build a new stadium every 5 years they still won't be winning anything anyway. We are talking about Spurs that want to fake it till they make it, but they will never be a "too big to fail" project so it's all in vain...

Just my opinion 55-60k is probably the upper end of the scale anyway for most PL grounds. You only have to look at mega stadiums across Europe, like Camp Nou and the Bernabeu, both are very rarely full, the very latter stages of the CL or a Clasico is the only time they sell out.
April 10, 20197 yr We could quite easily fill a 60k stadium on a consistent basis and unlike Tottenham after a year or 2 the novelty wouldn't run out because there is an expectation at our club to win league titles and in Europe. Tottenham are just like Arsenal are now happy with just finishing top 4 and another trophyless season once they make a profit at the end of it.

I’m not so sure we would fill a 60,000 Stadium every week, and fair credit to fans that pay for the love of watching their team, rather than merely an expectation of winning anything. ( which is the vast majority of match going fans across the country)

As I said before, we got 40k to see Chelsea Bristol Rovers 2 seasons ago when we had less than 2 weeks to sell tickets. We've easily got the fan base to sell out a 60k stadium regularly. FFS West Ham have an average attendance of 56k.

It just gets better and better.

I could be wrong but I read somewhere that there’s still been no movement on the development of Battersea and that we could be trying to get back in there. I’m not massively keen on us moving far from SB but Battersea would be a good compromise if we have to move somewhere. That could be a really iconic stadium if it’s possible.

Considering how far into the development they are, it is highly unlikely we would be able to turn that site into a football ground now. That ship has long sailed.

Can’t see how there would ever have been room for a stadium within the existing structure ( big upturned table) Possibly room on the outside but that’s all flats.

May 9, 20197 yr In relation to Battersea that ship as they say has sailed. Its worth googling the issues and indeed state affairs over at Earls Court. It would seem things are not going smoothly and far from moving on at pace that development is not working out well for CapCo. The demolition of the old Exhibition halls and loss of trade as a consequence has hit the area hard and a new stadium with such facilities may well be the solution. For Chelsea to again be contemplating moving surely would only have come about if something else had happened and who knows? Edited May 9, 20197 yr by terraloon
