Cesc Fabregas

Featured Replies

At least we know he can do different jobs, just looking at him at Arsenal then at Barca. Ok he wasn't amazing at Barca but he wasnt used to his potential and was slotted in to fit around others.

I honestly think with him playing deeper again with us he will really shine. He will have a beast beside him in Matic so he can push forward too if need be.

Our midfield for the first time in a long time looks balanced and packed with talent.

If Costa proves he is the real deal then we are in for one hell of a season.

Have to admit to having mixed feelings on this. Don’t get me wrong, Fabregas is a fantastic player and would seem to fit the bill as a perfect replacement for Lamps. He won’t get the sheer number of goals as Lamps, but there are areas of his game where he is stronger – his ability to hit that intricate defence splitting pass being the main one.

BUT the downside for me is his Arsenal connection and the fact they made him the player he was and that deep-down he would have liked to have gone back there. When players are so strongly affiliated with another English club, it has always put me off wanting them, no matter how good they might be. That’s why I never wanted Gerrard or Rooney when we were linked with them.

Great signing and he will improve us but I still long for the day when we produce ONE OF OUR OWN.

I don't like him because he was a little rat bar steward when playing against us, but it is a very good signing and I hope he does well for us.

I know it's not the same as Ash but look how he turned out, he's now more of a Chels than he is a gooner.

It's hard of course seeing as we hated these players before because of their club ties but it's only fair we give them a clean slate when they sign for us.

Guus Hiddink on Dutch TV: "Fabregas is an amazing signing for Chelsea. Abramovich is surrounding himself with the right people."

What do we think?

Is this an Abramovich signing or a Mourinho signing?

Spot on, Arsenal wouldn't pay Ash the same as the other top earners at the club which even Wenger thought he should have gotten. Spurned by this he decided to move elsewhere abs elsewhere was Chelsea where he fell in love with the club. He's definitely a Chelsea man through and through now.

I'm not saying Fabregas will start hating Arsenal but if their fans get on his back then he might start enjoying victories over them etc.

Club signing for me.

It was probably an area of the team Mourinho identified that he wanted to improve and when it became clear Fabregas was available (at a price that wasn't extortionate) then I think the club moved quickly to make our interest known.

Mourinho would probably have to give the final okay but I think it was an opportunity too good to not take advantage of.

Xavi has said that Cesc Fábregas’s move to Chelsea is “great news” for his Spain and Barcelona team-mate, but a “big loss” for the Catalan club.

Speaking at Spain’s World Cup training camp shortly after Fábregas confirmed the deal on the Barcelona website, the national team vice-captain said: “It’s great news for Cesc. He is happy, he looked contented to me.

“It’s a great opportunity to go to a great team and that was his idea. He may be more relaxed now that he knows his future.

“It’s a big loss for us but he decided. As a good friend of his, I wish him the very best and all the luck in the world.”

Club but I'm sure Jose didn't grumble with it.

Pogba and Vidal were not available and there wasnt too many other options so this was as they say a 'no brainer'.

Much will and has been made of the Jose Cesc Barca/Madrid thing but at the end of the day it's two pros defending their clubs Cesc has clearly built some bridges by describing Jose as an 'incredible' manager.

Hopefully they and we flourish together.

Nothing like dragging up a good quote from the past

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas: I will never sign for another English club like Fernando Torres - via @Telegraphhttp://t.co/wNhTABDbU1

oh well guess he had a memory lapse...

Yes but that was when he was at Arsenal, they did not want him so he has not really gone against that statement.

Loving it, my old neighbour whose a Gooner is having a right meltdown. A few highlights:

"Traitor" - original ha ha

"Who needs Fabregas when we have this amazing trio (pic of Ramsey, Ozil & Wilshere" - only one of them has been any good

"Enjoy parking a bus when you could have been riding one (pic of Arsenal on bus with FA Cup" - this one is my favourite because it's so delusional, they win their second FA Cup in 9 years and they brag about it, in that time we've won 3 league titles, Champions League, Europa League, 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and 2 Community Shields.

And lastly not CFC related but still shows what a Cnut she is:

"why is it when a player gets injured for England it's an Arsenal player. I f**king hate England" - bear in mind she's English aswell

Good God, I can count the number of days since he was referred to here as "Fibreglass" and mocked for being the spine of a spineless Arsenal.

We want to win trophies and he's here to win trophies, pure and simple. It's a workable arrangement, but let us not pretend we can grow to love him and let us certainly not pretend he can EVER come to love us after our history against the clubs he's been at.

It actually physically f***ing hurts me to know that one of them is a Chelsea player and it isn't Lamps (although in a sense I am mightly glad Frankie doesn't have to call him teammate for a season). All you need to do is google "Lampard Fabregas" to remember all the bad blood during the years. I can forget that no easier that I can forget Benitez.

Not comparable to Benitez for me. Fabregas was young, we have all gotten really passionate and have said/done silly things in the past. It's part of growing up, you can't hold that against him forever. As long as he works hard for us I'll back him all the way.

Benitez on the other hand is a grown ass man who knows full well what he is saying and is in a better position to be able to keep his emotions in check.
