You’re using a derogatory word used to insult people with special needs/disabilities to describe a person you’ve had a minor disagreement with. In the same way as using the ‘Y’ word, it’s not acceptable nowadays.

Y word?

y*d?

Can never tell with these ESL players if they are saying something literally or if it's just a mistake in their English

Willian certainly doesn't endear himself to us all with his play, but I can appreciate the comments he has made about the CHO transfer situation:

Fair play to him, considering he is direct competition for playing time on the wing.

That's the bloke who was celebrating when Willian got injured the other week and then got all aggressive when he got pulled up on it.   I'm not surprised he'd be that sort, really.

Honestly though if spurs sing it themselves then how is it offensive? Especially in that context anyway

Couldn’t give a sh*te about Spuds but when we have Jewish Chelsea fans who say it makes them uncomfortable I think that’s a good enough reason to knock it on the head.

Hudson-Odoi said at the end of the game that he learned that move before scoring from Willian as well.

Willian also wanted Higuain to take the penalty but Higuain hugged him and told him that he should do it.

A few clear examples that would show that Willian is a great guy, so the question about his strange reaction towards Conte remains a mystery, I guess players like each other but don't care to show much respect to the managers, in general.

Willian is 30-31 so he has 1 more season in him, I would guess. Clearly Hudson-Odoi would have a bigger role next season, specially if Hazard/Pedro/Willian go somewhere else.

Should have guessed he was talking about you, I’d have gone with crotchety old nincompoop.

I guess it is because the majority of people who say it aren't Jewish.

With the y word and n word, and others like that, that are associated with the suffering of a race or religion, there is an ownership, of what those words represent, and it's why they are especially offensive when used by people not in that demographic, whether they are said in an offensive manner or not.

The y word isn't spurs' to use, so they shouldn't call themselves that.

The media don't really care about whether it is offensive though, so no doubt the double standards will continue.

I think football should just move with times a bit.

There you go again ffs, when did i 'celebrate' that.

Just about any other player reaching 50 goals would be celebrated for reaching that milestone.

Lets compare his league tally to Malouda, Kalou

Willian 28 goals in 188 games

Malouda 35 goals in 148 games

Kalou 36 goals in 156 games

Abit frustrating because Willian clearly can be a much better player than Kalou, and a little better than Malouda. Just so damn inconsistent. Shame.

well the KKK seemed jolly when signing about (plural form of racial slur here), so how offensive could it be?

Sorry, a bit of hyperbole in the comparison ( I'll let you guess which way the comparison was unfair ::MooNeY:::hiding:) but I think you'll find when it comes to isms like racism or antisemitism, the people we are concerned with are not the people singing the slurs but the groups those slurs are targeted against.

Spurs have as much a right to call themselves the Y word as a white kid who has a few black friends and listens to rap has the right to call themselves the N word.......  I'm a huge fan of free speech and am against most control over speech/language, but even I will say this is clearly a case where the people claiming some relationship with the word have absolutely no claim in whether it's appropriate for them to use or not.

If you are not part of the actual targeted group what right do you have to say how offensive that slur's use it is or isn't?

Somehow I knew the playground classic "But he started it, miss", "No, he started it" would come, that's why I asked BOTH of you to stop it or take it elsewhere.
