I'd rather lose Oscar than Willian.

Tbh he was in my opinion awful against Maribor but today it looked like he knew that and stepped it up slightly when he came on, now what we need is for Schurrle to do the same.

I'm just probing to see how what Oscar and Willian offer to the team is different. I don't think there is a difference and if there is then it's not enough of a difference to justify one being able to score and assist and the other not. 

 

I could be wrong though, I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts. 

Personally i feel Willian is a better dribbler and runner with the ball.

 

 

How often do you see willian pick up the ball deep, change direction suddenly and go on a diagonal run to lose his man.  This is something he does better than Oscar, and as i said after Hazard he is the main trigger to unbalance the opposition.

 

I don't deny he needs to be more involved at the sharp end but i find that in England especially there is an over emphasis on stats.

 

Frank Lampard of two, three years ago had better stats than iniesta but you'd be hard pressed to convince anyone he was better at that stage.

 

N.B  i'm not comparing Oscar or Willian's quality, i'm just saying that their roles are slightly different and that stats sometimes don't equate to performance

Well i like Willian and yeah no doubt he needs to score more but i would expect someone who plays centrally off the striker to score more than someone who plays outwide and has to chase the fullback up and down the pitch. And again like Schurrle Willian would be better playing on the left so he can cut on his stronger right foot and shoot and would most likely get more goals that way.

 

Obviously we have Hazard on the left so chances of playing out there are minimised.

Okay it's not related to him directly but.... have we sold the wrong player?

I mean look at de Bruyne he flows creativity and has been most influential player of Wolsburg since he signed for them. And on the other hand here we have Willian who hardly have any creativity at all nor he can score goals. Plus he is 3 years older than KDB and I doubt will going to improve as much ever to justify his price tag which I think we have overpaid by some 10millions or so for a workhorse. Look at his fooking output  5 goals and 5-6 assits in 53 games and that's for an attacking midfielder or an winger who cost us nearly 30m pounds? Is it acceptable? Even I think Brana has better output than him.

 

I bet if KDB got that much chance as Willian he would have been much, I mean much better than Willian last season and might have helped us unlocking defenses..

 

Willian I think is only effective on counter other than that he's contributes next to nothing in final third in terms of output....

KDB was mentally weak, thats why he was sold. When he was  having a bad game he couldn't pick him self out of the slump and he offered nothing else. This is why Jose sold him, and I think the same could be said for lukaku.  Jose clearly liked KDB in the begging, as he did Luiz but soon he saw that the metal requirements to compete week after week wasn't there. KDB has found his level

When he sent that long cross field ball to Cesc, I thought WTF, but  the event 10 seconds later meant he saw something I didn't, and he executed well. He did pretty well after he came on.

That pass with the outside of his foot was a beauty. The main thing that impressed me about him at Anzhi was his passing and playmaking skills. Haven't seen a lot of that here but that may be down to the role he's playing.

Anyone wish we would have got him 3-4 years ago instead? His talent was wasted in Russia for that duration of time. He is most certainly improved since coming here and, apart from the price tag, i'm surprised there were quite a few people doubting his ability. However, he isn't worth 30+ million at the moment, but he is coming into his prime and i think he can go up another level. I have also noticed how he is becoming a lot more comfortable at taking on defenders to cross or shoot, whereas a year ago he would almost avoid doing it at all.
