Milner offers far more of a threat going forward than Willian. Please see him play.

 

Look at the stats as well. He's much better than Willian.

I'm not having that, there was a statistic last year that showed Willian was right up there for creating chances. I get the Willian critics however i feel with Willian its not that he doesn't have the ability to do more or to be better just that he doesn't show enough. Its pretty clear he won't ever be a huge scorer but in terms of more creativity he has the ability to do it. His best games for me usually come when he is playing as a number 10 rather than out wide. No one seems to want that RW posiiton.

Let's be honest here, both Schurrle and Willian are on borrowed time as far as a first-team spot in a Chelsea side is concerned.

 

No matter what happens this season you can bet Jose will be looking to improve in the summer, and right now there are two obvious weaknesses, centre-half alongside Terry and right wing.

 

Jose will want to make us as good as possible and compete on a level footing with the very best and I'm afraid neither Willian nor Schurrle is a top player, from what I can tell.

 

There is absolutely nothing to suggest Willian can produce end-product on a consistent basis. When he has the ball and attacks into space, you seldom get the feeling something will come of it, he just lacks that cutting edge, and he's lacked it his whole career. We want a killer on the flank and my feeling is we will get one, and it will make a massive difference, because we are still over-reliant on Hazard, despite the arrivals of Cesc and Costa. Sure, we're a good team and Willian is a good player, but we're carrying him a wee bit, because he seldom makes the difference. Hazard is a game-breaker. There are better right-wingers out there.

 

I like Willian, He's got good technique, he's fast, he's energetic, he's a grafter, he's smooth as silk and he's good at linking the play, but something is missing, he just doesn't excite me, he doesn't scare the sh*t out of defenders, and that's what we want, and that's what we're going to get.

Well the usual 'Hulk to Chelsea' rumour has been gaining steam.

Put Willian in Liverpool's team of last season what with their high pressing game and what not and (in my opinion) it starts to become conceivable that our tactics could be a contributing factor for his lack of end product.

I highly doubt it. He played for a very attacking minded Shakhtar team and his end product still wasn't anything special.

I like both and if I play my ipod now i do tend to skip over Oasis tracks. But at the time, I think they had the edge and produced more classics, But hey ho!

now, I don't actually have kids but you weren't to know that. but if I did, they would be and I think its fair to say that would be entirely your fault.

 

as it is, I've manfully hid in my bedroom all day to spare my family the pain.  all day I've been turning down requests for my presence and my presents. how can I tell them I had to burn them all last night? I can't nibs. I can't. all I can do- and I think you'll appreciate this is the only sensible course of action- is hold onto my copy of 13 and sob silently. 13 nibs. 13. the record where as you no doubt remember the coxon/albarn creative frisson gave way to a post britpop melancholia that transcended both the parameters of ambition and genre within which blur were supposed to operate. 

 

this is like when I found out there's no such thing as dad and santa had been spending 364 days a year in costume pretending. like I am some sort of fool! 

 

that was a tough christmas 2014 for me nibs, but until seven minutes past five yesterday afternoon I thought things would be better this year.

I can't help but feel that you are maybe over reacting - perhaps just a tad (in fact getting back on to topic, it's an over reaction of Willian proportions after he went down holding his face for 5 minutes after being brushed by a Stoke player)?!!!

Always been a fan of Willian but he does need to work on his end product tbh. Don't see why people would want to sell him either, very important player in our team, especially his off the ball work.

His off the ball work is completely unexceptional in this current side and it's only talked up because he offers so little in an attacking sense.

 

You could stick him on the left and let him cut in but he'll never score that many goals because he's simply not that good at putting the ball in the net. He's not much better at helping other players put the ball in the net either.

^ So he is pants? Called it the moment we signed but was hammered by the usual suspects; bar giving some balance to the team; I don't see what he offers creatively and at 26/27 there is little room for improvement.

Reminds me of Kuyt who for whatever reasons managers tend to start him, maybe that is why we are fans/spectators.

His pressing game (not excellent by any means especially in our team) is talked up because if you didn't, what would you talk up?

 

He's got a nice touch and can pass the ball well....and that's about it. He's got limited vision, poor movement in and around the box, a mediocre shot and very little creativity.

I thought he improved a lot once we were 2-0 up and West Ham had thrown the towel in (before a late resurgence). Before that I thought he was very average.

 

He's average defensively in that he's never going to really impact the game on that side of the ball, and he's average when we're in possession. He's unlikely to ever do anything to break a team down, find an incisive pass or get a goal for us. I think it's this rather anonymous, invisible presence on the pitch which helps shield him from more criticism.

That might be the best I've seen us play this season... Breathtaking from beginning to end.. That includes work done by the subs and every man did his job to perfection.. Could have had more but as long as we keep playing like that very few teams will be able to live with us... Willian right back on for as well which was nice to see

I think Jose obviously loves ivan to be the outlet from the back. Willian certainly helps cover for him at times

Why is everyone suprises about Willians attacking threat??????

Willian didn't suddenly come to Chelsea and regress as an attacking player. If Jose and his scouts did their homework which I'm sure they did, then they would've known willan was never prolofic. He does the job that Jose wants him to so but not the job us fans want him to do.

Was apparently named in the starting XI for the Spurs game.

Useless player, can't defend, can't attack can't do anything apart from mindless running. 30 MILLION POUNDS FLOP HE IS.
