Diego Costa to Chelsea

Zeeeeeeeeeeeeta! Zeeeeeeeeeeeta! Were you at mate?

I will place a wager on that with you Peter. If we do sign Costa, I bet you he won't score more than 15 goals all season.

(Although 15 would still be an improvement on Torres).

I would gladly take this bet. Loser donates a tenner to the forum?

I feel the inevitable is coming for me to. But I really thought of a striker scored 19 goals for us this season it would all but guarantee the title... Long way of from that

Such a clinical finisher. Add his fantastic ability to attack the space, and positioning to that and 17 goals in 19 matches is the answer. Fantastic player.

Not even getting tricked into reacting to defenders trying to wind him up. Williams the fool tried his best today, but failed spectacularly.

^^

arsed that up! he seems to be staying a lot more calmer in these situations now.it was hardly surprising he lost his rag quite a bit last season! he had a complete lunatic coaching him who has no control over himself never mind diego!

Can I donate without using Paypal yet? I can't use Paypal, they blocked my card years ago.

I was definitely a sceptic. But he has been exactly the striker we have been missing since drogba in his hay day.

Very very glad to be proven wrong.

Exactly the same with me, I don't think I could have been more wrong. I even wanted to get Balotelli instead of him and look at Balotelli now, it's like almost the complete opposite of performances from him and Costa.

Glad to be proven wrong and also look like an idiot during the process.

I thought he was going to a bit of a disgrace like Suarez, a raging bull that wouldn't complete many games because he'd get so wound up with the physical nature of the league.

Jose must have worked on Costa's self control because he's been amazing and looks nothing like the thug from La Liga. So many times he could have blown a fuse and hit someone, but he has stayed calm.

Glad to be proven wrong!

Diego made it into Garth Crooks's team of the week, along with Oscar and Luis.

"This player looks like a gun for hire in a spaghetti western movie who has walked into town and taken precisely what he wanted."

Haha

Remember last season at this time when all we wanted was someone the could finish?

17 from 19 matches he's on pace to bag about 34 by end of season.

I was the same, i thought he was going to be a right Psycho. There is still time for the ugly side to come out but he does seem far more in control of himself than he was in Spain. Maybe it's because he is allowed to be a little more aggressive over here, it must be so frustrating playing in Spain where aggression is frowned upon.

The most dangerous aspect of Costa's play is probably his off-the-ball movement, which is second to none and makes it very difficult for defenders to properly mark him. I think that's a large part of the reason why he hasn't really been 'worked out' - how can you work out someone who constantly slips away from you? His combination of speed, strength and finishing also make him incredibly dangerous on the counter. One of the best strikers in the world ATM.

I agree with your comments about his movement, it is terrific but got to disagree about the speed, he looks pretty slow in a foot race, still a top centre forward but I think he's a tad slow, that ball against Liverpool he chased down , can't remeber who played it, I thought he should have got on the end of.

I don't see Costa being fast, maybe it's the dodgy hamstring slowing him down. He rarely wins the 10-15M chase defenders, even with  teams playing high defensive line, I think his best asset ( apart form finishing) it's his awareness.
