Jose has a real soft spot for Brana at RB, which is a shame, as i havent seen luis have a poor game, side would be a lot stronger with authentic LB and RB.

 

isn't that why we were linked with that baba (or whatever his name is) the african lb? i would like to think that jose would try something different like that for next season, or at least in pre-season to see if it is of benefit to the team.

Need him? If we needed him, he'd be playing more games. But he's a very good backup so i would be sad to see him leave.

It's a shame really, he never got a look in here, when he did play, I thought he done really well, reminds me a bit of the Zhirkov situation.

If he goes at least he got a PL winners medal in his time in England!

I always wished Jose tried him at LB & Azpi at RB, I think that would have balanced us more and loosened the chains on Willian covering for Ivan being out of position.

But we won the league with the way we played so it's hard to argue!

I'll certainly wish him the best should he go!

That's what I mean. It's a shame because he was good when he played, especially the accuracy of his passing.

I would've liked to see Dave at RB and Luis as LB more often too, but the problem with that is that it would leave Terry exposed. Our defense is structured around Terry, and as good as he is at reading the game, his lack of pace means he needs protection and this is where Azpi, the quickest & best individual defender we have, comes in. He also provides cover for Hazard. This is why you rarely see Azpi joining the attack and making overlapping runs. Felipe is a great attacking full-back but he cannot do the job that Dave does defensively (not many can).

 

Terry is brilliant and I wouldn't swap him for any CB in the world on last season's form, but I don't think it's too controversial to say that he also limits what we can do in terms of attacking full-back play because you don't want him in a 1-on-1 situation with a quick winger running at him. Felipe is an unfortunate consequence of that.

Could Terry switch to RCB and slot Dave in at RB or would that not work do you think? Guess Terry has played LCB for yonks, maybe too much of a switch.

Di Marzio is saying that Felipe Luis will move to Atletico on a 2 year loan with an option to buy at the end of it.

 

This is bizarre. By that point he will be 32/3 and with I'm assuming a year left on his contract. This makes no sense to me, why did we ever sign him in the first place? 

I'm tired of clubs taking us for a ride by just loaning our players. if they want him, give us some f**king money.

Don't understand the logic in letting him leave unless someone better has become available.

Not sure why people are saying he flopped. He was just unlucky to be behind a very good player. No shame in that and he clearly wants to play and not sit on the bench. I wish him the best.

£15m for a 29 year old left back is a great deal. Well done to the person who negotiated that deal.

Was hoping this would be some kind of part exchange for Griezmann but I guess not!

seems a shame, and rather short-sighted, that we wasted a young talent in bertrand by signing this guy who probably wasnt any better. bertrand would have been a reliable back-up, and looking longer term would be a good replacement for ivanovic when he gets too old

Bertrand wanted to be first choice though, Why can't people grasp the idea that he wasn't happy to be backup

Not too fussed about this. Luis is clearly a gifted footballer but was too lightweight for me. He's better off in Spain and if we get our money back or near its a decent deal. Best of luck to him etc but he won't really be missed.

Anyone know much about Rahman as a replacement? Not seen him play at all.

What concerns m is that recently we seem to be signing players and then trying to get rid of them again within a year.

That is a lot of money we've spent, only to admit within 12 months that it was a mistake. So is this down to Jose making poor signings? Our scouts not properly assessing players? Or this "commitee" whoever it is who organises transfers, simply not knowing what they are doing?
