Filipe Luis to Chelsea... and Back Again.

What concerns m is that recently we seem to be signing players and then trying to get rid of them again within a year.

De Bruyne

Schurrle

Salah

Luis

Cuadrado

That is a lot of money we've spent, only to admit within 12 months that it was a mistake. So is this down to Jose making poor signings? Our scouts not properly assessing players? Or this "commitee" whoever it is who organises transfers, simply not knowing what they are doing?

Thats what happens when managers change and we upgrade. Jose didnt have a hand in signing the top two. Salah and Luis have been replaced or going to be. Cuadrado hasnt been here a year and from what I can tell isnt on the chopping block.... yet. I have a suspicion he was only signed as cover anyway.

Everyone is buzzing about new signings, well someone has to go for new players to be brought in. This isnt ManU

I would say it was pointless in that we already had a capable deputy in Bertrand who I don't think would have done any worse if he'd played the games Luis did. But what's done is done.

Seemed an odd signing from day one.

Went against our policy of signing players not yet in their prime years and was a role that Bertrand was more than capable of fulfilling.

If we're going to get back most of what we paid then ultimately no harm done.

Think we need to lay off signing players with obviously bloated transfer fees as we did with Luis and Cuadrado.

Would like to see a younger prospect come in who could potentially build up an understanding with Zouma and possibly Stones and we might have a back line in place for the next ten years.

But Bertrand didn't want to stay on as a second choice

I agree that it is frustrating seeing players come in and then leave again within a year. I do think this has to do with playing time rather than them not being good enough, and i think all of the players you have mentioned didn't get enough of that in their time with us. Even though Cuadrado hasn't looked anywhere near good enough i would like to see him actually get some proper game time next season to see what he is truly capable off. If we continue to ship players out a year after they have joined us i am going to start wondering if we can actually keep our squad players happy.

Mourinho didn't sign de bruyne and schurrle. And judging by schurrle's lackluster performances in the bundesliga as well as for us in his final months, Jose was right to get rid. Luis is good but not good enough to replace azpi and clearly far too good to be sitting on the bench so it's understandable he wants to leave. Salah did well in Italy so he's clearly not a bad player but for some reason it didn't work out with us. These things happen. Cuadrado simply hasn't been given enough time to show what he can do but i really wouldn't mind if he was sold.

I think mourinho's signings since he came back has been good actually. A few duds but that's to be expected for any manager. And even those duds will be sold at either a profit or at the same price we bought them for.

I woudnt call them pointless signings. Some of those players were fundamental in certain matches.

This was a pointless signing as already had Azpi. Why buy a 29 left back and then hardly play him and then sell him a year later at a loss, seems pretty pointless to me.

I think the plan was to put Luis at LB, move Azpi over to his natural RB position and move Ivanovic to his natural CB position.  The problem is that we expected Terry to have lost a step, or not be fit enough to play all season, due to his age, and that just didn't happen.

Bought for 16 million, being sold a year later for 15 million.  Don't think that too big of a loss, to be honest.

Bertrand, had to go because he wanted first team and fair play to him.

Azpi, forced over to the left because of Ivan, and played impeccably well.

Luis helped a few games, and if we spent a million to get him a Prem medal, I don't see it being that much of a fuss.

The euro is currently worth less against the pound than it was back then though. We bought him to around £16m and look to be selling him back for very close to that. Considering how well we've done when selling players it shouldn't come as a surprise if we don't lose money on this deal.

Gifted footballer, never got much of a chance. When he played he was pretty solid I thought. Bit of a shame really. Hope we've someone lined up.
