June 13, 20197 yr I would genuinely rather Drinkwater then Bakayoko on the performaces that he has put in. I thought this guy wss going to be a Patrick Viera type player for us. But no, what a sh!te player.
June 14, 20197 yr Probably pinching himself that he is going to have Frank Lampard around to coach him.

Has always surprised me how little we have played Drinkwater, when you consider that alongside Kante he provided the engine room for a title-winning team ... If, as seems likely, it is Frank that is coming in as coach, then maybe Drinkwater will get more of a chance ... can see Lamps being quite keen on having an "English spine" in the team myself ...

Some talk in Matt Law's Telegraph article that Claude Makalele is rejoing in the summer in some capacity. He was the Bakayoko whisperer at Monaco so perhaps something like a decent player might emerge next season after all (imagine if he developed spatial awareness and a first touch!) 12 hours ago, Sexyfootball said: Has always surprised me how little we have played Drinkwater, when you consider that alongside Kante he provided the engine room for a title-winning team ... I think Drinkwater was just perfect for that role at Leicester. Truth is our scouts are pretty sh*t and we had no idea what role he was going to play here, so he ended up a square peg in a round hole. Frank might give him a shot but he's essentially gone off the rails in the few months professionally and personally from the sounds so it's a long way back for him. Fitness wise in particular. We paid 35m for him which we will count 7m each year for FFP (equal payments over 5 year contract). On our books for this year we will owe 21m on him. I can't see anyone paying that for him right now. My feeling is we will send him on loan to try and get his value up a bit and then ship him off next summer. Funnily enough we may do that with Baka too.

It will be fascinating if Makelele does come back and if he can inspire Bakakyoko to play better that would be good for us.

If only because he has a good song... I actually think he would add some much needed extra height. But as it stands he wouldn't be in my squad ahead of Ampadu.
June 26, 20197 yr I saw Ruben described as the "Lewisham Ballack" on Twitter and now that's all I can think about. Brilliant.
July 2, 20197 yr If him and CHO sign big contracts I couldn’t give a sh*t about not being able to sign anyone.
July 2, 20197 yr Sounds great. Ruben's going to be a massive player for us. Transfer ban and all, Ruben is a player that gives hope for the future.

Soft tissue isn’t as serious as it used to be.
July 4, 20197 yr He's only started walking today, insta vid of him trying to push 5kg of weights on his leg and struggling....He's quite a bit behind CHO then in his recovery who was jumping and kicking a ball a week or two ago. Hopefully though he will be available for the first team by November.

Makes the Kovacic signing more important, that’s for sure.
July 4, 20197 yr Sounds like a done deal which is great news, but I hope it's confirmed by the club soon on its website.
July 6, 20197 yr It's a risk given his injury but if anyone deserves such a chance being taken on them it's him given how patiently he waited to play regularly in the first place.
July 6, 20197 yr If CHO and Mount both sign new deals i think its actually been a good summer all things considered. Morata money will add to the Hazard money next summer and hopefully Frank/Petr will have clear targets in mind and any other deadwood will have been sold off and young guns filling their squad roles. I'm very excited for the season to kick and Wednesday to see who Frank starts with after 5 days with the team.
