March 15, 201511 yr Apparently an £18m deal has been agreed in principle for the summer. If this is true then i really don't know what is going on anymore. We can't fill up our team with hard workers with little quality.
March 15, 201511 yr If this is true then i really don't know what is going on anymore. We can't fill up our team with hard workers with little quality. What ? Are you kidding me ? It's quite simple. Our team is not capable of holding 1-0 leads with 2 hard workers in Willian and Oscar (ain't saying that Hazard doesn't work hard) so it's our plan to get in another and have a triumvirate of AM's whose best qualities are.....drum roll.......(you guessed it right !) tracking back and defending !
March 16, 201511 yr http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2015/3/16/8220581/chelsea-fc-transfer-news-douglas-costa-shakhtar-donetsk Sounds like he is not very good then guys?
March 16, 201511 yr At the very least he can give Oscar a rest and hopefully make him play better more consistently I suppose.
March 16, 201511 yr His stats even in the Ukrainian league don't seem too exciting. It annoys me when we have the likes of Bertrand Traore and Jeremie Boga who really look the business desperately trying to come through. Edited March 16, 201511 yr by Frawdulant
March 16, 201511 yr Not me. He is a very average looking player. As has been pointed out above though he is a 'work horse' which means he will be regarded highly by Jose. If this goes through this raises another big question on Joses transfers.
March 16, 201511 yr Does anyone want him though? Looking at Willian and Cuadrado I would say the last thing we need is another workman like attacking player. I know not every player can be a superstar and I'm probably being overly ambitious but you look at the rough time Bale is having at Madrid and there's rumours that he might be open to a return to the Premier League, I would rather we went all in for a real world class winger to compliment Hazard on the left. It's predictable that the majority of our good attacking play will come through Hazard because he's the only one who beats his man. When you think we once had Robben, Duff and Joe Cole who all took their man on and created space and chances that's what I think we're missing. I just don't see this fella making the team better... Just another Brazilian who runs about a lot.
March 16, 201511 yr Its annoying that we seem to buy attacking midfielders based on work rate, pace etc rather than technical ability. All the money we have spent on attacking mids and we still for me lack creativity. Hazard on his own sometimes.

All the money we have spent on attacking mids and we still for me lack creativity. Hazard on his own sometimes. Over £70 million on the right hand side alone (£85 million if you add in Costa) and we still wouldn't have a top class right hand side winger. You could have got Bale for that amount but we have instead gone for quantity over quality. I don't really get it plus he's another south american and our team is becoming quite heavy on them which will be a problem with the foriegner rule.
March 16, 201511 yr If there is any truth to that transfer, I don't know why Chelsea is focusing on just average players. We need to add quality to the midfield. We don't need another guy who will play only a few matches and sit in the bench for most of the season. Chelsea should focus on players like Koke, Progdba (he's probably out of reach at this point), Reus, Isco. We need to move Hazard in the middle and add another left footed midfielder to the mix. I'm not sure if Oscar should stay. I believe Willian can improve and he's more consistent that Oscar. Just my opinion Edited March 16, 201511 yr by Michael440

Willian has never been a player that scores a lot of goals or get a lot of assists. Going forward he is pretty poor to be honest, Ivanovic is a better winger than Willian is. I also don't see how he is anymore consistent either. I can't think of any games where Willian has had an outstanding performance for us. Oscar atleast shows signs that he can become a better player. Up until Christmas last season he was one of our best players, and for a couple of months this season he was very good too. If he could just learn to be consistent for more than a few months of a season we would have a top player. I agree about Douglas Costa though, we need quality in our midfield and Douglas Costa isn't quality. I would much rather stick with Ramires and Mikel than sign Douglas Costa, an average player who would no doubt cost us between £17-£25 million pounds.

March 17, 201511 yr We can promote Bertrand Traore instead of wasting 15m for another Willian. Edited March 17, 201511 yr by IliyaKrostin
March 17, 201511 yr What about Kenedy? Young Brazilian attacker available for about £8mil. Better use of the money than buying Costa!
March 17, 201511 yr What about Kenedy? Young Brazilian attacker available for about £8mil. Better use of the money than buying Costa! Based on what? I doubt anyone has seen Kenedy play and spending £8mil on a player who isn't going to be part of the team seems excessive.
March 17, 201511 yr Lucas Piazon cost about 10m and he isn't going to make it here it looks like. Can't get excited about these random youth players tbh.

Crikey, I thought it was around £5m. I like Piazon, thought he played well in the Villa game but sadly it looks like he won't make it. He was also much more highly rated than this Kenedy fellow so, well, there you go.
