Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Costa appeared to pull up against Hull very close to the end; did any one else notice?

Hopefully am just being paranoid.

This dude is on a fantastic run!

Lets hope he keeps calm. He absolutely MUST NOT get booked against Leicester, or else he will miss the home game against Manure!

He will almost certainly get a card in that game, Jose will have him targeted.

Conte should have Michy warming up from the 1st minute against Leicester, soon as Diego so much as frowns, take the man off.

Wouldn't play him against Leicester tbh, he's a guaranteed booking unfortunately and United will be a tougher test IMO.

It's a tough one and I know he probably will play because he's bang on form.

One for Batman to start in.

Yeah I'd say so but not sure if Conte will disrupt a winning formula and our most in form player.

We could rest him then still lose to United and it would be looked on as a bad decision so not really a right and wrong scenario here.

The joys of being a manager!

if I was the gaffer, I play the Best scoring & in form striker despite of chance of being suspended next match - like Don Antonio said before, CFC were a 10th placed team - it's time to man up & get some points - CFC will need every one of them to finish in the Top 4 - IMHO there are 7 sides good enough to do so - much competition for a few UCL spots

We need to beat Leicester. We have a better chance of doing that with Costa playing than without.

He's in fantastic form and if fit you have to play him because nearly every goal we score right now he's involved in it some how.

Dunno if I've mentioned this before but I do love me a bit of Diego.

Considering the form he's in, I'd play him this weekend and not worried about the upcoming United game. Getting players closer to him will definitely help his game, and reduce the level of his frustrations. Defenders knew they can take a few chances against Costa these days, it's up to the manager and other players to 'protect' him from getting involved.

Apparently struck Bonucci in the face, but footage shows minimal contact and Bonucci acts like he's been shot.

I'd say he got booked for having been warned earlier in the game for placing the hand on Bonucci's face while protecting the ball (something he does a lot facilitating the other team players to act like they've been punched). And he was lucky not to be sent off with a second yellow when he kicked the ball after the referee had blown the whistle. It was then when Lopetegi decided to substitute him. But I'd say he was quite good last night and he opened quite a lot of space for other players.

I think Conte did right to keep him on, I think Conte was complaining about Coste when he didn't give a pass, on a 3x1 counter attack.

As a coach I have some errors sometimes, I'm talking to a player in the wrong time and it takes him out of the game for more time, players allowed to make mistakes, they will fix them. I'm sure that Conte will explain Costa what was wrong, but Conte did right to keep him on and show Costa that everything is fine.

About Costa, nothing to say. "He scores when he wants"!

He is flourishing under Conte who is a similar character to Simeone. I don't think it was anything more than a heat of the moment bit of passion from two passionate guys. Sure Conte will sort it out if there is any lingering problems and he probably liked that from Costa anyways.
