Costa was one of the players who made last season what is was so don't gloss over it. Who came back overweight? Who decided to stand on the left wing? Who threw his bib at the manager? You can't make out last season wasn't his fault when it was everyone's.

Zzzzzz....

Can we not just enjoy a little praise for one of our players for once?

it means ~0.6 goal per game. it's amazing he still able to reach this number even after last season's comedy. imagine if last season never existed
this is why it always baffles me when someone says he's an average striker (he's not)

And remember all the praise they received compared to what Costa gets now?

People really can't stand seeing Costa succeed but he doesn't give a flying f*ck. We love you Costa!

It isn't about that. Just don't make it sound Costa had nothing to do with last season. He did like every other player.

Thats the truth and what happened

By the way I think Costa is quality but I'm not going to go imagine without last season or last seasons was comedy when he contributed to it. People make out he wasn't there.

lol what's your point? i wasn't saying he wasn't at fault, i was just saying last season gives significant negative impact to his record, regardless whether he was at fault or not.

"imagine if 9/11 never happened"

"you can't make out as if USA wasn't inciting terrorism etc etc"

you need to relax man

I am relaxed, just can't really mention what if you take out a year which Costa played his full part in. How many goals and his performance contributed to that. So relax man.

fair enough if Costa was played right back.

I think it's because of the fact that he's with Chelsea which is said to be the most hated team right now. It's like one versus 100 for us. But  who cares.

He was the best player again this week, pity we just couldn't offer him decent services throughout the ball. The long ball tactic with his back against the goal is just a waste of everyone's time. We need that guy who could put a ball in space when he's in the mood to run channels.

Very fired up (in a good way) today.

Impressed by the kind of tenacity and threat he showed even though finishing was not quite what we expect.

He was excellent. Last 2 games he's avoided all the nonsense and concentrated on playing, and tonight he was our best player IMO, easily. His movement was outstanding, his desire, it was just an exhibition of great centre-forward play. He was very unlucky not to score.

Their players were booked and sent off fouling him. It will happen a lot more regularly if he keeps his temper in check. Stay down rather than jump back up and start a fight. You will get a lot more sympathy from referees.

Conte getting the best out of Costa right now so props to him as well.

I think he's been instructed to stay down.

I don't remember him doing it as much as he has been over the last couple of games. Seems to be a way to stop him from getting in trouble from retaliating but also puts more pressure on the ref to punish players who keep fouling him.

Agree about his performance last night too. He's currently, comfortably our best player. He looks so sharp and in form right now, very happy with how well he is playing.

Above is a link to a post I made about Luiz after the Leicester game. I'm just posting it here to illustrate how good Costa was on Tuesday night. Luiz and Azpilicueta both make 2 key passes each to Diego that result in efforts on goal, and he was very unlucky not to score. Batshuayi was on for a far longer time but his movement isn't half as good, hence those passes weren't made for him. All 4 passes are made from deep, and they require the run. Not knocking Batshuayi, he looks dynamic, he had a great shot from outside the box which drew a terrific save and chances will obviously fall his way, but Costa's movement on Tuesday night was just sensational. The Leicester centre-backs couldn't live with him. It was really exciting. If he can stay fit and free from suspension we have a treat in store, if Swansea and Leicester are anything to go by.

I have my issues with Costa but if he's focused it's clear he's a pretty damn fine striker.

Anyway here's Harry Redknapp's take on things ..

Edit: Oops, sorry, I don't know how to link the post, I've made a right pig's ear of it. Anyway it's in the David Luiz thread and links the highlights of the Leicester game.

Double edit: I think I may have linked it correctly. In which case I just got lucky.

Performing much better under Conte I'd say, his work rate his increased and his positioning for runs is 10 fold what it was last season

another thing I noticed - no unfortunate hamstring strains - that seemed to plague DC @ both CFC & AM at the most inopportune times

Good to see he ignored the fouls against Liverpool and Leicester and either stayed down or didn't engage with the opposition. His time on the pitch against Leicester was      a good performance without scoring.

The only player in top form for us right now, but we have a problem on our hands. He's one booking away from a suspension already and with the way things are going, we can't afford to be without him for any game.
