There was 12 yellow cards in last seasons game and Costa didn't get one. He won't do anything stupid knowing we have Man City the week after

Christ this desperation to blame everything mourinho is embarrassing. Was he bollocks calm at atletico.

Hardly blamed Mourinho for it, but how come he is a changed man under Conte and even under Hidink?

Sorry if already covered in thread but does anyone know if the points that have stacked up eventually get "written-off"? He seems to have been one booking away from suspension for f**king ages - surely that doesn't last until the end of the season - at some point they get wiped?

The form he is in, don't want to miss ANY games but obviously the next two are crucial so after that either WBA at home or Sunderland away would be (not ideal) but better and also give a a break leading into Christmas fixtures and give Bats a run-out.

The cut-off date is December 31st. So ol' Diego just needs to keep his head during the game we have against Stoke that day and his slate will be wiped clean the next day!

Can't see that happening!

I'll be more than happy if he gets through the Spurs game and having scored the winner against City, picks up a yellow in the 90th minute. That said, will it be a one or three match suspension?

I think he'll surprise us all. And it's only a one-match suspension

But how would you explain his sudden change of attitude with Hiddink and Conte?

How do you explain him being the exact same under Jose in our title winning season?

He was banging the goals but he was hardly a calm striker, i can see that its being suggested that i am on some against Mourinho campaign. I hardly am he done well for us we all moved on. I don't have any case against him, or any other player/manager apart from Rafa :laugh2:

Its seems mourinho has taken 'blame kenyons' title.

Costa looks a calmer, more controlled player this season. i dont think you can argue that he was more fiery under mourinho than he was under simeone.

I think its more of a case of costa reaching a level of maturity where he is open to changing his mindset, and conte's approach seems to have resonated with him.

Long may it continue although i would be gobsmacked if he can go another 7 games without a booking.

Telegraph reports that he's set to sign a new contract.

Huge news if true, would love him to stay.

Been lots of talk of him leaving ever since he got here so if he signed a new contract it's a job well done by Conte and the board.

While I do believe he has got the hot streak in him, a lot of the media image of him being a player 'who fights people', is very short tempered, needs to be angry to play at his best and just generally perceiving him as a time ticking bomb, it is just bravado that Costa has played up to, to live that image to an extent. He has proven in the recent weeks if suspension facing him, he does not need to get involved in any stupid fights or arguments with refs or players as playing football is the main thing. Not living up to a rep.

I remember hearing silly comments from pundits like for Costa to be at his best he needs to get angry and wound up but no, he just needs to focus his head solely on football and scoring goals and ignore the other petty stuff and look what you get in return. Not only does he score goals, he creates a lot this season too and should have more assists to his name if the recipients of some of his assists were converted.

i hear you... not only costa, they do it to other players as if that's some sort of a genuine formula..  what the hell does that even have to do with playing at your best to begin with? it's so silly, making excuse just for the sake of it.. they're watching too much hulk..

Some people do need to be wound up or angry to perform at certain tasks or at certain levels, everybody is different, what is not different is how you focus it. Taking it out on other players and referee's isn't controlled aggression. It's just stupid. Obviously Costa and or Conte have found a way for him to channel all that aggression into something far more productive. And it's f*cking wonderful to watch

I think Diego deserves some praise for his behaviour, form and work from the media. When he used to be so angry, committed fouls and was talking to referees, then the media knew how to talk about Diego, but now when he's one of our best players in the team and one of the best players in the league I think he deserves some support by the media. Some positive articles about him this season won't hurt in my opinion.

Big Diego, just continue to do what you do!

Rumours of a 50m bid from Inter in January. Pointless article and don't know why they would bother writing it. No club competing for a title would sell their main man.
