Luis was a terrible decision by the club. He is one of if not the best LB in Europe and he just didn't get a decent enough chance at it here.

The guy never settled here. It happens.

Has been awful since January 2015, we're nearly into 2017 and he still plays and even more embarrassingly so, he's our vice captain.

And this is his fault how? And it's not embarrassing at all, we always use seniority for vice captain and that is him after Cech and Lampard left. Does anyone really care who vice captain is ?

I'd hazard a guess that he didn't settle because he didn't really play all that much. He should have been our first choice LB.

Would anyone still have Ivanovic at CB? I would, not first choice CB but he would be a good back up CB as he doesn't seem as exposed there.

Well he'd be at best our fourth best CB (Zouma, JT, Luiz), not sure whether he'd even be better than Cahill, and also don't think i'd want to be playing him ahead of Christensen from next season onwards.

It's shocking how we are going to see him starting against Hull. No RB and not CB, his days at the top level are over, he was fantastic for us and he has big respect from us for what he did.

Agreed completely, thanks to Gaz and Ivan, but their time is up. Realistically I dont think we will get proper reinforcements until the summer.

Agreed on this, if we don't see him and Cahill dropped then Conte is no better than the rest of the managers. He said he will drop the players that don't perform no matter what their name is, so here is your chance Mr.Conte to be a man of your own word. You have a sub for Ivanovi? and JT is back so you have a sub for Cahill no excuses, if i see them both or either of them starting then things won't get better any time soon.

Alonso - JT - Luiz - Cesar should be the current starting line up with Zouma replacing Luiz after he returns.

he rewarded cesc for his performance against leicester, eventhough it turn out it didn't work out

so i'm positive that we will finally see the day ivanovic dropped this weekend

Said this in the matchday thread. Will repeat it here. 50 bucks that he starts against HULL and has more starts than alonso and aina combined.

It's just a shame that people will remember him as a bad player now. I can't blame him for staying, he tries his best but he's just not very good anymore. It's the coaches and the boards fault for not replacing him.

Will see if Ivanovic starts this weekend. Is a favourite of Abramovich and the board, if he starts our managers now are puppets and might as well not bother having top managers to make their own decisions.

That's why Ivanovic has never been replaced with an outright purchase - the owner doesn't want that.

Make Ivanovic the next manager since he's so well liked by the Board.

Anyway, when Conte leaves the club, no decent coach will want to touch the club with a ten foot pole.

I'm sure the usual £20,000,000+ pay out they get from being fired 6 months into a 3 year deal would persuade them into coming to the club.

Exactly. Plus it seems all the new manager does is make the same mistake with absolutely no accountability towards it.

"He has the same squad", "Its too soon to make such big changes","Things dont change overnight".. blah blah blah.

I mean how dumb do you have to be to continue playing IVA after the season he had. its been 6PL games and 2 LC games. Is he blind or simply dumb?

Was the squad's status and players a complete surprise? I mean do your bloody homework before signing a multi-million pound deal.

Its down to money, most people are intrinsically greedy, look at Allardyce

that coupled with the fact that most of the top managers have huge egos and think they can succeed where others before them floundered

So there will always be a slew of top or near top managers that will come to Chelsea despite knowing in advance the pitfalls, we never get to

know the reality of working under the board and owner as the departed ones sign confidentially agreements as part of their severance terms, we got a teeny-tiny glimpse of Roman's methods in Carlo's book.

and yes Iva is 'done'

Well, he's 'finally' been benched.

Hopefully Conte finds a way to use him semi-effectively from the bench before we can finally offload him.

He's been a great servant for this club, but ATM his legacy is being tarnished.

Sitting on the bench is not going to in anyway improve his performance. The only time he would come on would be when we're comfortably winning and that time should be used to give a youth player some game time. Thanks Ivan but bye.

I don't want to see Ivan start a Chelsea match again, his time is up.

I'm happy to see him settle for a "Paulo Ferreira in his later years" role at the club.

I don't see a problem with him acting as de facto backup to JT for the season. I think our starting centre back pairing should be Terry and Zouma (when that becomes possible), but if JT is ever injured or needs a rest, I would prefer to see Zouma paired up with Ivanovic than Cahill or Luiz.

Admittedly, sad as it is to say, I do think this season should be his last at the club.

He's been a great player for us, unfortunately the last 12 months just been awful, and some forgot how good he's been for us. My guess is Jose/Hiddink/Conte all viewed him as a leader, and persisted with him. Unfortunately he's not a leader, and his performance never warranted a start in the past 12 months. He could still play some games at CD

He's been with us through everything but . . .
