Personally have a hunch/hope that this will give a better return than Torres/sheva/Falcons.

It will come down to his pace. According g to article linked below he grew when he went to Italy and that caused the thigh injuries. Suspect he had a pretty good lifestyle.

For a January signing if he does as well as Anelka would be very happy.

If the rumoured fee and wages are true then this is about as low risk a transfer as they come.

Certainly more sensible than the Falcao loan and Cuadrado transfer for example.

Can't see Remy sticking around much longer, his injury record for us has made him an unreliable back up so Pato might be his replacement.

If he replaces Falcao, I don't see any downside to this deal, since his fee/wages seem to be quite low. We certainly need help in the scoring department because when the Costa-Fabregas duo is off form, we're struggling for goals. Top players are rarely available mid season and given our current situation I imagine they're in no hurry to join us anyway since other top clubs can offer them more money and the CL football next season.

I'm still amazed that we're bring in an unproven PL scorer and selling Remy go who is a proven scorer. Remy's goal to mins is fantastic. I think he's been harshly treated. I know he's been injured abit but he's still worth keeping as 3rd choice.

Pato moved to Brazil because he couldn't cope in Europe and didn't enjoy it. He hasn't kicked a ball since November so will be no use to us in the near future.

Remy scores when he plays, he is proven in the EPL and is a better player than Pato.

We are a few wrong result away from a relegation scrap and we plan to bring in someone who isn't match fit, who doesn't know the league and who looks a complete punt.

If so this is a very strange one. Buys in January should have a direct (positive) impact. Not spending what's left of the season trying to get fit. That's what preseason is for.

Well no football since November when their season stopped would indicate he wont be up to speed.

Remy has the Euros coming up, at this rate he won't get a place in the French squad. He probably wants to leave and needs to leave to have any chance of being there. Lets face it, when Costa is fit he will start. I honestly don't understand what people expect when signing 2nd, 3rd choice strikers. We are not going to get the big names and would youth benefit from sitting on the bench? Would Lukaku be where he is now if he sat on the bench behind Drogba/Costa? Maybe if he got his chance but under Mourinho that would of been doubtful. Sure we sold him but we sold him for a big fee at the time, it's why I believe the likes of Bamford and Traore should be loaned out to clubs of a high level. Situations like Kane happen because the number 1 striker is having an absolute stinker which was Soldado at the time.

They want him on loan according to A Bola.  Dont know how rleiable they are, but Id be surprised if his club loan him, his deal exires in December.

 

Also makes no sense to negotiate a move elsehwere when supposedly we have got him all tied up barring an official announcement

Bamford has been told to prove himself in the U21 first by Hiddink.  So he isnt going to be brought in, even though he may make the bench Sunday IMO

Bamford already proved himself in the U21s, then in the Championship. Now a new manager wants him to prove himself again. Then hiddink will go and he'll have to prove himself again. Same goes for all our youngsters. Waste of everyone's time.

I'd rather see Bamford or Traore feature instead of Pato.

Pato is worse than Remy and Traore is unproven. I trust Traore to do a better job than Falcao, but if we lose Costa to injury and we end up with Pato as our leading striker..........well, it's certainly going to make scoring goals a lot harder.

 

Let's not forget that the guy hasn't played since November, he's not going to be up to the level needed until around March / April. 

 

His goalscoring stats ain't exactly that impressive either, 10 league goals in 30 games in Brazil.......that doesn't fill me with confidence to be honest.

 

We would be MUCH better off sticking with Remy

I don't think anyone here can say with any confidence that Pato is worse than Remy, unless we have some avid Brazilian league fans here I'm unaware of.

 

I would stick with Remy for this window and then move him on in the summer seeing as it's looking like he wants to leave, also gives Pato time to get settled. The following season I would go with the three strikers I mentioned.

Atsu is not and, I can confidently say, won't ever be good enough. Including him is just complaining for the sake of complaining.
